Impulse

"Tek has been blown up by a Creeper, Solidarity has fallen from a high place" I drop my hammer, it landing with a thunk on my workbench. My eyes drift over to the sturdy wooden frame of our house. Bdubs is kneeling to the side, having pulled down one of the frames to pour concrete into it.

"Beck?" His eye drift up and squint in the setting sun as I approach.

"What's the matter my love?" I look towards my bench and into the trees as Bdubs stands and walks the rest of the distance to envelop me in an embrace, his sturdy arms wrapping around my waist and his chin resting on my shoulder.

"Didn't you hear it?"

"Hear what?" I turn my head and sigh.

"Jimmy is dead, and another person I don't know. They both died at the same time." Bdubs takes a sharp breath before pulling away from me slightly, holding me firmly by the shoulders.

"Remember what the guy in the beginning said. We all have three lives to share with our Soulbound. They'll be fine." I nodded slightly, looking up from the trees to his face.

"What if that happens to us?" Bdubs smiles sadly, resting a hand on my cheek.

"Then at least I will still be with you." He says, smiling. I smile back and gently bump my forehead against his. "Now help me mix the concrete, it's not going to pour itself!"

I nod and he uses his hand to bring my face closer to his, giving me a gentle peck on the lips before grabbing my hand and pulling me towards the buckets of concrete he had been mixing. A chuckles escapes my lungs as I crouch down next to him to begin the process of creating our home.

I run at top speed, weaving between trees and rocks as Etho chases after me, his mask resting under his chin and his mouth spread in a huge smile. A week has passed since we split from Grian and Scar, Scar still completely oblivious to the fact that he and Grian are Soulbound. We found a shipwreck at the top of the Gorge which we have been working on fixing up so that it is insulated and livable. Now I am running with Etho hot on my tail, running towards our tree farm, where we have been cutting down and replanting trees.

My breaths become shallower as I tire, slowing down just enough for Etho to catch me and tackle me to the ground, digging his face into my neck and tickling my stomach. I curl in on myself trying to push the heavy man off of me, but he is persistent.

"Etho--" I giggle, trying to push him off. He stops, but lays on top of me, his chin rested on my chest.

"What." He says feigning innocence. I roll my eyes and lean forward, pressing my lips onto his. He smiles into the kiss, holding the side of my face. Suddenly a voice echoes in my head.

"Tek has been blown up by a Creeper, Solidarity has fallen from a high place" I pull away from Etho, sitting upwards and staring through the trees. Etho lets me as if sensing my panic and pulls his mask up over his face.

"What is it?" I look at him in confusion.

"What do you mean? You couldn't hear that Jimmy died?" Etho looks surprised and lowers his fists, turning towards me.
