Sadie colter, a thirteen year old girl stuck in a horrible situation. Since she was young her very own mother has emotionally neglected and verbally abused her. Her dad, if he was even around, never seemed very interested in her in the first place.

Everyday since she turned ten she's come home to an empty house. No parents in sight, nor do they show up until late morning after she's already left again for school.

Which is what exactly happens on this day. Sadie walks into a silent house and she sighs. Like every young girl she wished her parents payed more attention to her. At this point though, Sadie found no attention was better than bad attention. She treks up stairs and into her room, tossing her backpack to the side of the door.

Sadie flops face down on her bed and screams in frustration into her pillow. 'Why did I get stuck with such a dysfunctional family?' Sadie wasn't sure she'd ever receive an answer.

———

"Fuck you Blake!" A small eight year old Sadie watched on, huddled in the living room corner. Her mom and dad were fighting, she couldn't even comprehend about what.

"You're a fucking whore Kaylie!" Sadie flinched as her dad stormed from the house, slamming the door in the process.

"Son of a bitch!" Sadie's mom angrily shoved a table lamp to the floor, smashing it everywhere. Sadie yelped and quickly covered her mouth. Not being quick enough she tensed as her mom's angry glare became fixed on her.

"What are you staring at you little waste of space?" Her mom Kaylie rolled her eyes at Sadie's lack of response and stormed from the room. Sadie couldn't stop the tears of terror from streaming down her face and her body from shaking.

Sadie's mismatched eyes open and she groans at the blocky 1:46 on her alarm clock. She sits up and rubs her eyes, blinking the sleep from them she stands from her bed. Quickly she changes from her school clothes she fell asleep in and grabs her school bag. She wasn't tired right now so she dug in her bag for her homework.

Thankfully it was only english and Sadie had it done in a jiffy. She made sure to put her paper back in her bag straight and zipped it up before putting it back by the door. Once again looking to her alarm clock she sees 3:28 and lays back down. Getting under her covers this time, Sadie is glad she made it back to sleep.

"Sadie! Sadie!" Sadie jolts awake as her door gets roughly pounded on and her name is screamed from the other side. Her heart beats wildly and she throws her covers off before the door bursts open.

"Get up you lazy ass! You're coming with me." Completely disoriented from the sudden awakening, Sadie is unable to comprehend as her mom grabs her and drags her down the stairs. As Kaylie approaches the door with Sadie, Sadie finally found her words.

"Mom? Mom what's going on?" Sadie tried to pull her arm from her mom's grasp but it was too tight. Her mom didn't reply and she pulls Sadie from the house and out to her car. Her mom shoves Sadie into the back seat and slams the door loudly. Sadie shivers from the cold car, her pajama pants and tee shirt really weren't cutting it for a sudden trip in the winter.

The drivers door opens and slams and Sadie watches silently as her mom starts the car and quickly begins driving. She feels words wanting to come out of her mouth, but Sadie was too afraid right now to even bother. She was too nervous of how her mom would react.

They silently drove for some time. Sadie became rather worried when it starts to rain heavily. She spies the unreadable look on her moms face and squeezes her hands together. Sadie nervously stares out the window and waits for something out of her control to happen.
