Samira's POV
I miss living in large houses. There was always somewhere to go when the situation got uncomfortable. Here in Lokefar, in this little house, the only escape is outside and it's not always a wonderful sunny day. I think I have been forced out on a rainy night. Thank goodness Kieran wasn't born then and I hope he couldn't hear his mother crying out for a man who isn't his father.

The first time was when she sent me out for groceries. I went alone, leaving Lucas behind. He was supposed to be reinforcing the fence. When I got back, I was met with a scene I haven't been able to erase from my mind. Lucas and Selina didn't stop there, even after being caught. They kept at it. Every single time I'm forced to be outside.

Sometimes, if the prince is asleep I leave him inside. But now that he sleeps less and his mother's urges cannot be tamed, I'm outside with him.

It's late into the evening. The last of the sun's colorful hues are being swallowed by the looming dark night. It takes time for them to finish. Sometimes it's fast. I hate that they do this. So many times I have wished to call Prince Adryan or even the Queen Mother. Perhaps one of them will put an end to it. I don't wish to offend Selina but I hate her affair with Lucas. That is what I'll call it, an affair because affairs end.

I hate how Kieran is forming an attachment to Lucas. Prince Adryan is his father. He should be the one Kieran looks up to even with his laundry list of flaws. I always snatch Kieran from Lucas. I try my best to tell the little boy that his father will come. In the meantime he is not allowed to get attached to a another man!

I wish for a miracle! I wish that we may be found by the Queen Mother or Prince Adryan. Why isn't it happening?

I looked up hopelessly, staring at the darkening sky. Should I tell them where she is? Perhaps rush eventuality along.

"Samira." I snapped out of my thoughts, following the deep voice in the dark night. I peered through to see the shadow of man. He slowly made his way over. I stood up from the rocking chair, holding the prince closer to me.
"Samira, it's me-"

"Keli?"

"Yes-"

"Keli!" I gasped and ran to him without second thought. He embraced me in a hug.

"What is this?" He smiled. His attention is fixed on the little boy in my arms. He is fighting his sleep but trying to look at Keli too.

It's too late to hide him. This is exactly what I was hoping for; to be caught!

"This is Kieran."

"Adryan's. Tell me it's Adryan's-" he paused at the sound of Selina's cries. My cheeks are burning up. Keli's eyes suddenly hardened and he made a move towards the door. I stopped him from going any further. "Who is that? Who is with her?"

Like me, he is possessive of the idea that Adryan should be with Selina.

"A shameless bodyguard." I answered. "Let's move away from here."

He accompanied me a short distance away from the house. I'm trying to rock Kieran to sleep but he won't take his eyes off Keli. He is quick to notice new people.

"How long has it been happening?"

"Months."

"Is this boy really Adryan's or the bodyguard's?"

"I'm certain it's Adryan's. As certain as the sun rises from the east and sets in the west. It took shortly after the king was laid to rest. By then Lucas wasn't even known to us."

"Adryan was a drunk mess on the morning the king was buried. He was singing his heart out and against Relian's advice he staggered into Selina's room. He never talked about Selina after that. It was almost like she ceased to exist. He focused on Clover and he's been wired that way since."
