Selina's POV
The only light in here is coming from the feeble glow of a single candle. It's  dark and eerie.

This has been a trying day. It started early in the morning when Clover decided to pick a fight with me. We were in the middle of heating the hell out of each other when Keli arrived to inform me Adryan had been taken ane will be executed.

I remember the confusion I suddenly suffered. I remember Keli shaking me back to reality and Clover questioning Keli. We immediately came up with a plan of action. I was surprised when Clover offered to help.

We arrived here before midnight, waiting like the spectators outside the courtroom. My eyes refused to leave the thick rope that was supposed to go around my husband's neck. We have escaped death one too many times. This cannot be the end of my husband.

As soon as panic ensued at midnight, we forced our way in. Nova has out up quite the act. Her sense of drama is the reason they let us in so fast!

Watching her wail over Adryan's corpse is breaking my heart. She is hunched over, her face buried in trembling hands. "My baby! Oh my son! What have you people done? What have you done?"

Her heart-wrenching sobs echo in the silence as tears stream down her face, soaking the fabric of her handkerchief. Her grief is a palpable, agonizing force that seems to consume everyone around her.

"I would like to take my husband." I broke the painful silence.

"We cannot release the body until the chiefs-"

"I said I want my husband's corpse!" I screamed and Nova only wailed harder, even falling to the floor. "Isn't enough that you have killed him? Now you deprive me if his lifeless corpse?"

"We did not do this to him! We did not feed him so there's no poison involved!"

"Oh thank you! That is so comforting! Give me my husband or I swear I will go out there and tell all those curious people how underhanded your methods have been!"

"Give me my son! I want my son!" Nova tagged at the trouser of one of the guards. "Even if he's dead! Give him to me!"

They looked at each other just as the Chief I hate the most arrived.

"What is this?" He questioned.

"You killed my husband before his execution. That is what is happening!"

"Mrs Kaelan, we did not do this! Who was the last one with him?"

The Courtier and it seems he delivered my poison. Adryan is like this because he trusted me. In death he should trust me.

"An old man from their kingdom."

"It was your doing, wasn't it? To give him a quick exit from his punishment."

"Why would I kill my husband? Why would I take away my son's father? The only person cruel enough to do those things is you. I have nothing more to say to you. Give me my husband's corpse so that I can bury him."

He touched Adryan. "He's cold." Thank the freezing temperatures. "We have no more use for him. Give the corpse to them so that they can leave our lands already!"

Keli wrapped him up in a blanket. He covered him up completely and threw Adryan over his shoulder.

Queen Nova's voice kept cracking as she murmured Adryan's name, a plea for his return, for a reality where he is still alive. She moved those who got out of our way as some women in the crowd wept with her. I tried to steady her, keeping up with her well executed act.

She wears a mother's pain well as is is etched into every sound from her. Her cries continued in a mournful symphony of loss that reverberated through the I y morning. Once we got into the waiting car, she suddenly stopped.
