"Uhm hello." I decided to smile back because I didn't know what else to do. I peered down at his shirt to see the words 'Pink Floyd' written across his chest in bold font. "I like your shirt." He chuckled and looked down as if he didn't know what he was wearing.
"You like Pink Floyd?" He asked, still smiling and trying to make conversation.
"I kind of grew up listening to them, so Yeh I guess You could say I'm a fan." I grinned at him which caused him to silently giggle to himself.

"Oh hi Daisy. I see you've met my son, Calum this is Daisy, Daisy this is Calum." She stood awkwardly in the middle of us and spoke as if we've never met, but we did. But I don't think either of us were willing to tell her we had met in the bathroom.

"Mum im gonna go, wash up." He smiled at me slightly and trudged up the stairs.
"Boys. What can you do?" Before i could reply she decided to speak.
"Your room is upstairs to the left. I'll get you some blankets if it gets colder." I refused to sleep in a room. I couldn't after everything she'd already done.
"Joy. I can't. You've done enough already. Im sleeping on the couch and there is no argument about that." I smiled at her and made sure she didn't make me go upstairs.
"Your sure you're okay with that?" I nodded and she led me into the living room.

I lay my head on the the arm of the sofa and stared at the ceiling. Occasionally, a car would drive past causing beams of light to fly past.

I didn't sleep, and i didn't think i would be anytime soon. I always had dark circles under my eyes, and i started to get used to them. Sleeping wasn't very easy. I was always scared something bad would happen, and i wouldn't be there to witness it. Sadly, i was more scared something would happen to me.

My train of though was disturbed by a rustling in the kitchen.
"H-hello?" I shuddered and hid behind my blanket. Since i was in a house and place i had know idea was, i was terrified.
"Is any-nyone there." I asked louder, but didnt want an answer.

"Hey its just me." A familiar voice whispered and walked into the living room slowly.
"Its Calum. I don't think you remember my-"
"I do. Sorry you scared me." I smiled, forgetting that he couldn't see in the black lighting.
"I didn't mean to wake you."
"You didn't its fine." I sat up and tucked my legs into my chest under the blanket.
"Wait so you weren't sleeping? Its 3am" he sat down crossing his legs in the free space in front of me.
"I dont sleep well." I didnt know how to reply, and i didnt know how long id been up

We sat in silence for a few minutes, sitting in each others presence.
"I know that this may not be the best question to ask, and feel free to not reply but." He sighed and looked at the ground as his hands shook worryingly. "How did my mum find you, and where did you come from."

I stayed silent at the sudden change in mood. I knew that the question was bound to be asked. He had a right to know but i wasn't ready to tell him.
"Your mum found me on the road. Uhm i ran from people i didn't feel....safe around." I didn't know to finish the story without wanting to burst into a fountain of tears.
"I-"
"You don't need to explain if you don't want to. I get it." I watched as a warm smile grew on his face in the dim orange lighting.

"Im going to try and sleep again, and i think you should too." He stood and walked to the door, leaving a warm patch where he sat.
"Okay. Goodnight." I waved slightly as he replied in a whisper,
"Goodnight."

For once i felt safe. I felt happy. I also found myself falling asleep. Which was rare, but i didn't fight it, and i didnt want to. So i let myself fall asleep.
