Finding my way to the school was a journey.
I asked people on the way for directions yet they looked at me like I wasn't speaking English.

WHICH I WAS!
AND MY ENGLISH IS VERY FLUENT SINCE I'VE WATCHED ALOT OF AMERICAN MOVIES.

While walking aimlessly not knowing where I was going I saw a taxi dropping off someone so I quickly ran to ask him for help.

"R80." He said.

I didn't even have rands on me , I only have a few naira notes which was meant to be for food for the week.

"Uhm....I only have this." I said giving him 100N.

"Get in." He said.
He seemed very sketchy to me.

We finally reached a big beautiful building which was the school campus.

"Thank you." As I walked out the car on my way to the boot where I had placed my luggage, the guy quickly drove off.

"HEY!!" I yelled.

"Great! No clothes to wear for the semester." I said to myself as I walked into the school.

I found my way to the office, I must say the walk there was very awkward.
I had students staring at me like I had something bizarre on my face.

"Hi! Gabriella Adekunle, the scholarship student from Nigeria, I was told to see Mrs Khumalo the minute I arrive."

The lady behind the desk stared at me as if I was speaking a foreign language.

What was her deal?

"Sit." She said chewing her gum in the most exasperating manner as she picked up the landline.

I wondered to myself If all South Africans were like this...

I sat on the steel chair, patiently waiting.

"Miss Adekunle! Welcome"
A very tall lady appeared.
Yep, taller than me.

I guessed it was Mrs Khumalo , the Head Teacher.

"Mrs Khumalo, it's a pleasure finally meeting you!" I stood up to shake her hand.

"Pleasure is all mine. Where are your stuff?"

Oh she meant the one duffel bag I brought which got driven away by a thief taxi driver.....YEAH.

"It got stolen on my way here."

"Well...welcome to Joburg my dear" she said sarcastically.

"Okay our head girl will lead you to your dorm so you can settle in and get some rest, we'll have our meeting tomorrow."

"Fine by me ma'am."

"Nthabi, call Neo and tell her to get here fast to welcome Miss Adekunle...Miss Adekunle unfortunately I must leave now, but do feel at home neh (right)."

"Thank you very much ma'am."

Mrs Khumalo was by far the first kindest person I've met since I landed.

I really began to think all South Africans were naturally rude.

"Hi! You must be Miss Adekunle" I turned to see a gorgeous dark-skinned girl with an afro so rich and full. Her body was too close to perfect!

"Hi , Adeola is fine please, I feel old when I'm addressed by my surname" I said causing her to giggle.

"Mhmm I feel that, let's get going shall we!"

She gave me a tour all around the school, making sure I don't get lost and know where everything is.
Finally we reached the dorm.

"Here we are! This is your personal room, you're actually very lucky you don't have a roommate, so you get your private space."

"Right , but a roommate wouldn't be all bad , I mean what would I be doing alone?" I said as we both giggled.

"I get that...well you must be tired so let me leave you and I'll see you early tomorrow morning for your first lectures."

"Thanks uhmm......"

"Neo! the name is Neo."

"Right Neo! Thank you."

"It's nothing, sleep well yeah"

She was really sweet and pretty.

She made her way out of my room leaving only me in such a big spacious room.
I had no luggage, neither did I have any electronics.
I was certain I'd die of boredom the whole semester being the introvert I am.
Well at least the bed was big enough with warm duvet's and the shower works perfectly.

I took a hot shower and jumped into bed straight and before I knew it I dozed off.
