" Therefore, the suspect Noel Harrison, is given a life-long sentence for the charges of kidnapping, assaulting, and murdering the victim Ellen Gracia. The court is dismissed."

Some were celebrating and some were shouting. Who knows who's right and who's wrong? The parents of the victims, Mr. and Mrs. Gracia, came up to Scarlett and thanked her emotionally for bringing justice to their daughter. She shook her head as she said.

" I was just doing my job."

They left soon after that. She sighed and looked around. Scarlett felt a pair of burning eyes on her. The kind filled with malice and hate. She felt a chill and looked up. On the other side, she saw the parents of the suspect. They were looking at her like she was the most heartless and cruel creature on the earth. Their eyes filled with pure hatred and blame. She averted her eyes.

As much as Scarlett liked her job, looking into these hateful eyes made her sad. She didn't ever want to be hated by anyone. If anything she would prefer no emotions from them. But this job of hers doesn't let her. As she was in a daze, someone energetically wrapped a hand around her shoulder.

The sudden force made her stumble and she looked up in shock. Only to see her dear friend Mary Rochester. The look in her eyes told her that she had planned something for tonight that she was probably not going to like.

Scarlett met Mary a few years ago in an unfortunate event. But they became very good friends. She wanted to get out of prosecution and work as a lawyer. Mary's parents had a small law firm and she joined them. They worked together and have made a lot of progress in the last few years.

They shifted to a bigger place and she became a partner. They were both earning well and everything was smooth sailing in life except the occasional emptiness of the heart.

" Congratulations! You were the queen in the court today. You dominated the trial girl!"

A slight smile swept up her face. For once a genuine one as she looked up and said.

"Thanks."

" No need. Now that you're finally done with your big case, let's go and celebrate! Come on!" She said and started pulling at her.

" Mary wait! Where are we going? I still have to sort out some documents."

" Later Marcella! We are going to celebrate and you're going to accompany me without a word, got it?!"

" Okay but let me put them in the office first. And where are we going?"

" I'll tell you later but we'll have to change our dresses. Man, this office attire sucks! Can't even go some fun place in it."

" Mary don't tell me it's something like a pub? Last time I had to use my profession for a small bar fight."

" Oh! Sorry about that. I was drunk, okay?! Anyway, what kind of friend will you be if you don't even help your friend? And you don't even drink so what's the point in accompanying me then?!"

" Mary!"

" Okay okay, but it's different this time. Kinda similar I guess but let's just keep it a surprise."

" Alright but if it's some stupid place I swear I am gonna go back and leave you alone."

" Okay, Miss Marcella But let's get ready first or the night will pass."

An hour later, a grey BMW parked in front of a huge bar. As soon as it did, Scarlett exclaimed.

" Mary! Did you actually bring me to a bar?"

" Yeah! Don't worry it's not that bad from a pub it's actually better."

" Mary you know I don't go to bars! I've never even stepped into it. What were you thinking?"

" Oh please, Scarlett. What will you do coped up in the office all day? Your already 25 don't you understand? Live life and don't be a free spirit inside a cage."

" No, Marry. I don't like bars."

" Well, then I am going. If you want to come inside, then you can and you're also free to go back. You decide whether you want to celebrate my birthday or not."

Mary got out. Scarlett looked at her back speechlessly. Did she even have any other option? She went out. Mary hid her smirk. Scarlett looked at her and smiled helplessly. Mary really did know how to get things done her way.

" You can talk to me now. I am coming."

" Yeah, but you weren't a minute ago."

" Mary stop being a kid."

" Hah! Look who's talking?"

" What?"

" You are someone who hasn't drunk yet or went to a bar or anything like that. Who are you to talk?"

" Okay okay let's just forget it and enjoy your night."

" Alright. I'll let you go for today."
