" That's a hard one... " Ashley looked down and said in a low voice.
" Yeah. You can skip it too."
" No. I can... I can say it. I ran away from a lot. I left behind a lot. So many things and the worst thing is I'll never be able to go back. What I left behind is... Will never be back. My identity, and everything, everything that comes with it. All that's left of my identity is my name."
" I see... " Scarlett looked away. She seemed to be deep in thought and Ashley couldn't determine what she was thinking.
" What about you?" Ashley leaned forward a little and asked. Her hair slipped down from the side blocking the view behind her.
" ...I am always running away. I never got to stop."
" Why? From what?"
" From life, cause I could never breathe." Hearing her, Ashley didn't say anything. They were both silent.
Scarlett suddenly sighed. She leaned back and looked up in the sky. Her head resting on the wall and she said.
" I am a complicated and messy person, right?"
" Yeah. You are messed up... Just as I am." Ashley gazed at her with a smile. Scarlett was stunned.
She sat up straight and a thought she never had before passed her mind. Could there be someone who actually understands what she went through?
" Hey, don't worry about this all okay? This is a messy world. It has always been. But in this mess of a world, can't we be together? Can't we help each other to not be this messy? Let's try to defy the odds by being happy in this screwed-up world."
Scarlett looked back at her. Some inexplicable emotions went through her eyes as she got lost in time.
After a while of sitting in silence, Ashley got a call. Her friends were leaving. They also decided to go home as it was really late now. They went down. Her friends were all drunk. Ashley wanted to drop Scarlett home but she brought her own car and she wasn't drunk but her friend were very much drunk.
Scarlett told her to take her friends and she'll go by herself. Ashley was unwilling but she didn't have a choice so she said.
" Okay. But promise me that you'll text me when you reach home. It's really late. "
" Hmm. I will. Bye "
" Bye~ "
Scarlett reached home and texted Ashley. Then she went to freshen up. Twenty minutes later, Ashley replied back. It was a simple text saying that she's glad that she reached home safely and informed her.
Scarlett's fingers hesitated for a moment before she replied.
[ No need for that. Have you reached home too?]
[ Yeah I've just reached home. I've parked my car and am going up right now. It's quite late and you must be tired. I won't keep you up then.]
[That's okay. We'll talk later then. Have a good sleep.]
[ Thanks and you too. Goodnight~ ]
Reading that message, Scarlett put her phone down. She didn't know that she had a smile in her eyes. She put her phone on charging and left to take a warm bath. Even though it was late, she likes to take a warm bath as it makes her feel peaceful.
She lighted a scented candle and played soft music on her iPod. Songs like 'Glimpses Of Her' or 'Almost Heaven' and then she stepped into the bathtub. It was a little hot but that's how she liked it. She went inside and lay comfortably. Then closed her eyes. It was a kind of meditation for her but unfortunately, she couldn't do it today cause as soon as she closed her eyes, a certain long-haired beauty flashed in her mind.
She opened her eyes. A bit surprised at herself for thinking about someone so much. Almost, almost as if she's missing her. But she has never missed someone that way so she might be mistaking it.
Scarlett shook her head and tried her best to forget everything and just relax but her heart didn't seem to listen. She barely managed to put Ashley in the back of the head.
After bathing she dried her hair with the towel and put her normal skincare products before laying down on the bed. She put some light music on which helps her fall asleep.
