" All I want is... And all I need is, to find somebody, to find somebody... "
A beautiful song was playing in the background. 'All I Want' by Kodaline. Tonight, all the songs that kept playing in the background were the type to evoke emotions in someone. With that soft yet beautiful song playing in the background, Scarlett dozed off before she realized.
She felt a light movement and that brought her back from her slumber. She opened her eyes and was a little dazed cause she had never dozed off like this before. It was different from a short nap or dozing off on your desk at work or school. It was eerily calm and peaceful. A bit too much that it scared her.
" Hey, sorry that I woke you up. Our food is here." Ashley brought the burgers and sat down before giving Scarlett hers and leaving the french fries in the middle. They were both kinda of hungry so they ate in a comfortable silence.
But Scarlett seemed to be unable to finish it all. She barely ate half of it and she was like she ate three to four burgers. So Ashley decided to ask her.
" Why do you seem so full when you've only eaten this much?"
" I can't eat a lot. One-fourth of this burger is my capacity so eating half of it makes me feel a little heavy."
Ashley was shocked. She literally ate less than a five-year-old. And she definitely didn't seem to be pretending. Ashley saw many people who eat less but they are either dieting or pretending to eat less. She never saw an actual person who eats so little.
" That... That's just too, little."
" Yeah," Scarlett said nothing more. Ashley felt a little worried about her but decided to let it be for now. She already finished her burger and even ate the fries.
" Scarlett, look up in the sky." Ashley suddenly said. Scarlett was stunned and stared at Ashley in surprise. She heard her name being called by Ashley for the first time and it totally enchanted her. Ashley chuckled lightly and said.
" Don't look at me. Look up." Scarlett finally looked up. Once again she was stunned by the beautiful moon surrounded by shining stars. They enjoyed the view.
" So can we get to know each other more? Can I know a little more about you other than your job and name?"
" Yes, you can ask me anything."
" Alright. But I don't want to ask you it seems like interrogating like earlier. I want you to share with me."
" Yeah but I am not good at talking. It would make things easier if you just ask."
" I see. Okay. Then tell me about the thing that makes you the most happy?"
" Oh... That's hard. I can't think of anything."
" Seriously?! This was such an easy question."
" What about you?"
" Okay so back to me. Well, this right here is what makes me the most happy." Ashley said in a deep voice while staring back at her.
" What?"
" Nothing. Just these types of moments that I spend, the moments that inspire me, and now also the people that inspire me, these are what makes me the most happy."
" That's actually amazing. I think I like crying. It gives me peace."
" Wait what?! Your kidding right?" Ashley was shocked at her answer.
" No. It's very hard for me to cry. So when I cry, I feel so... So relieved and empty that it makes me happy." Scarlett tried to explain.
" I've never heard someone say this before. I can't believe what you just said. How in the world can crying make one happy?"
" The feelings it takes away make me happy. Even if it's for a short while."
" I see now. But I don't think it should be what makes you the happiest. Maybe I'll help you with finding the answer... Anyway, the next question is, what makes you the most sad? And you can skip this question if you don't want to."
" ...My past."
It was such a vague answer but those two words alone sounded heartbreaking.
" Well, for me it's my, my family... "
" Okay. Can I ask the next one?" Scarlett asked while staring at her. Ashley didn't know why that was making her nervous.
" Yeah sure!"
" Have you ever run away from something so bad that you could die to do so?" Scarlett asked. Ashley was totally shocked.
She thought her questions were getting too personal and deep but hearing Scarlett's question, she was startled. She didn't know why she asked that but she was afraid of answering her.
This question of hers kind of hit the nerve. Like it was meant for her but Ashley didn't have enough courage to answer that.
