" So what were you listening to?"
" What?" Ashley was too engrossed in gazing at her to understand what she meant. She snapped back out of her daze and answered.
" A song. You wanna listen?"
" Can we? You're wearing a headset."
"I've got Airpods too." Saying that Ashley took off the headphones hanging on her neck. Her trapped hair flowed as she took out her airpods. She hesitated for a second before settling it in Scarlett's ear.
Scarlett was stunned when her ear got in contact with Ashley's slender fingers. She felt a current through her body.
Her heartbeats that finally calmed down raced. She was still stunned but Ashley looked down on the iPod looking for which song to play. Scarlett couldn't see Ashley's red ears hidden behind her hair.
Ashley went through her iPod and chose one of her most favourite song. 'Coming Home' by Skyler Grey.
" I'm coming home
I'm coming home
Tell the world I'm coming home
Let the rain wash away all the pain of yesterday
I know my kingdom awaits and they've forgiven my mistakes
I'm coming home, I'm coming home
Tell the world that I'm coming... "" Wow... " Scarlett exclaimed. Ashley smiled hearing her. She knew Scarlett would like this song cause even those who don't like soft songs likes a beautiful song.
" This is an amazing song and the lyrics are so beautiful. I've never heard this one before."
" Glad that you like it. But I wanted to ask if you like soft songs or hip-hop type? "
" I don't have a type. It depends on my mood. But I only listen to hip-hop or such songs on rare occasions. If i am not in the mood, they give me a headache."
" I see. I'll keep that in my mind."
Hearing that, Scarlett looked at her. Ashley looked back with her blueish-grey eyes. The atmosphere was a bit ambiguous and both of them had so many emotions speaking through their eyes.
" You have very beautiful eyes," Scarlett suddenly said.
" Thank you... " Ashley whispered while looking back at her. Her eyes travelled down to her lips.
The song ended and they didn't realise until another song started and the sudden music startled them. They pulled back and an ambiguous and awkward atmosphere surrounded them. Ashley fiddled nervously and asked.
" Are you hungry? Do you want anything?"
" Yeah."
" What would you like to eat?"
" A burger."
" Alright. Do you wanna go out to eat or order it?"
" Order."
" Okay." Ashley took out her phone and ordered two burger kings and french fries plus nuggets. She asked Scarlett if she wanted anything else in her burger or just anything in general.
While they waited for their parcel to arrive, Scarlett began to feel a little sleepy. She had a very systematic routine. She usually stays up near midnight if she has some case to work on but she never stays up too late. On very rare occasions like this, she stayed up late. But this was later than usual so listening to soft music with a beautiful atmosphere and all made her sleepy.
She only yawned once as she didn't want to seem rude but Ashley noticed it. She looked at her warmly and told her.
" You can lean on me to sleep. I'll wake you up when the delivery arrives."
" Oh. It's okay, your shoulder will hurt."
" No, it won't. Don't worry about it just lean on me. It would be my pleasure."
" Oh... Okay then."
Scarlett felt a little nervous and uncomfortable at first thinking she was being an inconvenience to Ashley but soon she calmed down. She felt so at peace that she forgot about everything else. And that was surprising cause every night she had a hard time falling asleep and sometimes she even has to take sleeping pills.
