"Point the toes! Now tighter!" Su's voice spoke as Alessia pointed her toes as her leg was stretched above her head. She was smiling. She was happy for the first time she could remember. Her leg came down halfway to her other leg. Half way before starting her turns. Each turn was faster than the first. She then stopped with the pose she was taught to do.Kuvira was on her other side holding her pose as well. Alessia looked at her best friend before turning her attention back to the instructor. Which was Su. The woman who took her in when she was only a few years old. Alessia bounced on her foot as she was pointing it with each bounce before taking a leap halfway across the stage. Kuvira followed suit before they started to perform their duet. Alessia felt the breeze in her hair as she was in perfect sync with Kuvira in the dance they were practicing.
"Alright girls! Enough for the day!" Su called before the other girls began to leave the studio. Alessia grabbed her water bottle and drank from it before smiling at her friend.
"What?" She asked before Kuvira looked away. A small flush of red filled the girl's cheeks before shrugging.
"Nothing, gonna go work on my bending. You should do the same" Kuvira smirked before leaving. Alessia sighed and rolled her eyes. Her friend wasn't wrong. She had mastered earth bending already at her age. Metalbending was a different story altogether. She was getting the hang of it. Kuvira had already gotten it down and Alessia couldn't help but feel a tad bit jealous of the girl's talent. She was still in fact proud of her friend. Kuvira was only an earth bender. Alessia however, could bend earth and water. She had no idea why and it seemed she was the only one who could do it. Slowly strolling down the pathway as her hand went straight to a lotus necklace she had and smiled. It was half a star piece with the lotus flower attached.
"You girls are inseparable!" Su's voice spoke as she laughed gently. Kuvira and Alessia were both sitting on a couch by the fireplace. Their arms were linked as they were leaning against each other reading a book. Looking up with a smile before sitting up.
"Here, I have a present for you both!" Su spoke with a smile as she handed each girl a small box. Alessia opened hers and smiled. It was a half star with a lotus flower attached. She looked behind it and it had Kuvira's name. She looked confused. "Look at the one she has dear." Su answered Alessia's look. She leaned over and sure enough. Kuvira's necklace had Alessia's name written on it. "Now, the necklaces and be put together. Like two halves of a whole." Su explained as Kuvira and Alessia put their necklaces together. It was shaped into a star. "My two stars." Su also explained. This made Alessia's heart swell before hugging the woman. She leaned over and helped Kuvira put her necklace on before doing her own. Linking her arm back with her friend and leaned against her again.Alessia smiled at the memory before stomping one foot as a piece of earth came from the ground. She jumped and round kicked the earth before seeing it fly across the ground.
"Nice kick! Too slow though!" Kuvira's voice spoke as Alessia turned and glared at her friend. Her eyes softened when she heard a laugh.
"Sorry I'm not the best like you!" Alessia rolled her eyes and huffed.
"Don't worry! You will be! Two halves of a whole, remember?" Kuvira spoke while pulling Alessia into a hug. The two friends sat down while leaning against each other. "Promise you'll always be my friend? Don't ever leave me?" Kuvira's spoke spoke softly but with worry.
"I promise." Alessia smiled and hugged Kuvira tightly. They laid down, arms linked while staring up at the sky as the evening came."Girls! Dinner!" Su's voice shouted. Kuvira and Alessia both jumped up and brushed the dirt off their clothes. Alessia' took Kuvira's hand into her own and led the way. Not noticing the blush upon her friend's cheek as they made their way inside.
"Tonight, steamed kale, spring rolls and a side of small steak!" The chief boomed with a smile. Alessia clapped with a smile as her plate was laid in front of her. She was smiling non stop before slowly eating. She felt like someone was watching her. She turned to look at her friend before watching the girl quickly turn away. Poking at her own food before eating. Alessia smiled brightly before going back to her dinner.
"So, everyone had a good day?" Su spoke while breaking the silence. The twins piped up talking about how they came up with a game they just started doing. Everything was perfect and the conversation seemed to be going well. There was a loud thud that caused everyone to jump. Alessia watched Su stand up with an angry look.
"How dare you enter my home without my knowledge!" She shouted. Alessia turned her head as her eyes widened.Three men in white robes were standing in the doorway.
"We apologize for our intrusion. We have received word that the duo bender is residened here." The first man spoke.
"Leave this instance!" Su snapped.
"Afraid we can't do that Mrs!" The second one spoke. The third one went straight to Alessia and grabbed her wrist. Revealing the mark upon her wrist.
"It's her!" The man spoke and grabbed Alessia.
"No!" Alessia shouted as she yanked her arm away.
"You can't have her! She's mine!" Kuvira shouted as she pulled her friend into a tight hug. Alessia was holding onto Kuvira tightly before she was wedged away.
"No! Stop!" Alessia screamed. Her arm was held onto tightly by Kuvira. Struggling non stop.
"Enough!" Su's voice rang through the room. Everyone stopped and looked over at the woman who was standing tall. "Who are you?" She demanded.
"We are the White Lotus. Protector of the Avatar and her sister." The first man spoke. There were gasps everywhere. Alessia was confused. She looked around and saw Su sit down slowly. Her face fell. Saddened.
"It was only a matter of time, wasn't it?" She asked softly.
"We understand your concern Madam but she must come with us." The second man spoke.
No! You can't have her!" Kuvira shouted as she was hitting the man. Trying to pry her friend back.
"Kuvira!" Su spoke as she walked over and pulled the girl into her arms and held her.
"No! Please don't take me!" Alessia shouted. She had tears streaming down her face. Holding Kuvira's hand.
"Please don't leave me! I love you Alessia!" Kuvira cried as Su pulled them apart.
"I promise I'll come back!" Alessia shouted as she was hoisted away over the shoulder of the third man. Seeing the whole family all hugging Kuvira as Alessia was was now out of sight. Her heart was hurting. She didn't know how long she was laying there on the floor of the ship. Hearing the horn blare as the man picked her back up. She was shaking from the cold. A large jacket was now wrapped around her as she saw the sight.
"Welcome to the South Pole." The man spoke.
The crunching sound of the snow behind her feet was the only sound that came out from the silence. Her face was tear stained now. Her hand holding the platinum necklace. The only thing she had of her friend. Her heart is now hurting. A loud knock had brought her thoughts back as she looked up at the house. A woman in blue had opened the door and gasped as she looked at Alessia.
"Sorry ma'am. It took us a while to find her." The first man in white spoke as he pushed Alessia inside the small ice house. The ground had a small vibration coming from it as a tanned girl came into sight.
"Hi! I'm Korra!" The girl shouted. Alessia looked at the man then back to the girl.
"I'm...I'm.." She started before crying again.
"Shut that girl up before I do!" A new voice spoke out in anger before coming into sight. He grabbed Alessia's wrist and led her away. Opening a closet and shoved her into it. "This is your new room. Now stay in it!" He slammed the door closed and left. Alessia slumped down while silently crying. Holding onto her necklace as the moon shone upon her marked wrist. It was a small window. She looked outside to the stars before curling up to sleep.Dear Lin Beifong,
We found her. South Pole.
