Sunny Zipp Pipp and I were waiting for Queen Haven to arrive for her Mother-Daughter brunch "Okay! A protein power punch for Zipp, fruity-colada for Pipp, and for her "Royal Fly-ness", the usual – a green monster with extra greens, hold the monster. Hey, where is your mom anyway?" asked Sunny "That's what we're wondering she ascent shown up yet" I said "Oh, she sent a text! She says... Huh. Dog emoji" said Pipp "What does that mean?" I asked "Mom's terrible at texting. Last week, she sent me a text that just said, "Don't". said Zipp "But she never misses mother-daughter brunch! And now she's sending us cryptic messages? It can only mean one thing... She's been pony-napped!" cried Pipp "I high doubt that" I chuckled "You're right. That sounded less silly in my head" admitted Pipp "Pony-napped?!" came a Voice Hitch then came into view on his hind legs balancing a crystal on his nose he was also wearing sweat bands along with Sparky "Never fear! Hitch is here!" he said "Slow your roll! Or, uh... slow your hop, buddy. It's no big deal. Mom just didn't show up for our monthly brunch" said Zipp "But she did send us this dog emoji!" said Pipp "Sorry! Can't... see... while... bouncing!" he said "Yeah, I'm gonna need some context for what all of this is, Hitch" said Zipp "I'm training for Forest Critter Field Day!" said Hitch stopping hopping "What's that?" I asked Izzy then appeared from behind the smoothie stand and blow a whistle "That's a hop-stoppage penalty! Yoooouuuu're out!" she said "What?! That's not in the rules!" augured Hitch "Uh, yes, it is! Right here in the Forest Critter Field Day manual, page 403" said Izzy holding up the book I took it with my magic and turn to the page "Huh what do you know it is" I said "What's Forest Critter Field Day?" asked Sunny "It's only the greatest ancient unicorn tradition there is! Every fourth purple moon, all the ponies in Bridlewood gather for a day of thrilling events and games! Games... Games... Games!" echoed Izzy "What game is this? "Bounce around"?" guessed Zipp "No, that's later! Hitch is training for the Bunny Hop Relay" said Izzy "You bunny hop through an obstacle course while balancing a crystal, then pass the crystal to your critter, who has to hop over hurdles to the finish line! I'm teaming up with Sparky!" said Hitch "Sparky, catch!" he said passing the crystal but sparky failed to catch it "Mm. That's a crystal droppage penalty! You're out!" said Izzy blowing the whistle again "Wait, who's out? Me or Sparky?" asked Hitch "You're both out! You dropped your crystal, and Sparky isn't even a critter! He's a baby!" said Izzy "Look!" said Izzy taking the book back and reading out a rule "Every pony contestant must compete with a critter. No baby dragons." said read "There's no way it says that" said Hitch Izzy then showed him the book "Oh. Wow, it does say that" he said "Well, now I need a new partner! What kind of critter should I compete with?" asked Hitch "Ooh! A-A dog!" said Sunny "I'm more of a cat person" I said "I know, but why did she text a dog?" said Pipp "NO Dog" said Sunny point up we saw Cloudpuff flying down with a note "Mom sent Cloudpuff? With a note? Mom, just learn how to text! Ugh!" said Zipp as she went to grab the letter but Cloudpuff zoomed off towards the Brighthouse "Cloudy, wait!" yelled Pipp "Look at that dog go! He's so fast! Which is perfect!" said Hitch Cloudpuff stopped in the main room of the Brighthouse he barked at us Hitch translated "He says, "Dearest princesses, I bring to you a message from your dear mother, her Royal Majesty, Queen Haven of Zephyr Heights—" "Get to it, Puff!" said Pipp "Cloudpuff says that, before he delivers his message, [overdramatically] he first requires a meal of the finest—!" began Hitch again Zipp grunted and gave one of the dog treat we had to him "Oh, for hoofness' sakes!" said Zipp Cloudpuff then gave them the note Zipp readied it out "My darlings, it is with deepest regret that I must postpone today's mother-daughter brunch." "Some very important state business has come up and could not wait." "Let's reschedule for another time that's more inconvenient for you both." "With love, Mother." read Zipp "Um, did she mean to say "more convenient"?" asked Sunny Pipp and Zipp signed "No." they said "Mom takes royal meetings all the time, but our special brunch is special. And she loves brunch! I think maybe she has been pony-napped!" said Pipp "Come on" said Zipp "Look at the bottom! A cute little heart?! When has she ever drawn a cute little heart on a note before?!" asked Pipp "Hmm. You know what? That is suspicious" said Zipp taking a picture of it "What do you make of all this, sheriff?" asked Zipp "Make of what?" asked Hitch looking at Cloud puff's wings "What else?! Cryptic messages and cute little hearts! Something sinister is ahoof. Maybe... Mom's being held hostage somewhere, all alone... with no brunch to eat!" panicked Pipp "Okay, I think somepony's being overdramatic" I said "But something is definitely up with her. Hmm... Could you help us figure it out?" asked Zipp "I will help you" said Hitch "And I know just where we should look for her first" he finished

"Aw, yeah!" he said "Hitch! The Queen of Zephyr Heights is not being held captive at the Bridlewood Forest Critter Field Day!" said Pipp "But you never know! It's as good a place to start our search as any. Come on, Puffy! Let's go register!" he said Once Hitch had registered with Cloudpuff he came asked Jasper the Unicorn "Hey, uh... you haven't seen any Pegasus queens around here, have you?" Jasper shook his head "Hmm. Well, guess you two were right. She's not here. But I'm sure your mom is just fine. She's probably somewhere enjoying brunch right now" said Hitch "Without me? Ugh! She could never!" said Pipp "But, hey, now that we're here, now you can cheer me and Cloudpuff on in the first event!" said Hitch Pipp let out a growl "Come on, Pipp, let's go watch some weird sports" said Zipp as Pipp gave a whine take a sit beside me "Or you could help me give out the trophies!" said Izzy "I'll help, Izzy! All these new unicorn traditions are so fascinating. I'd love to get an inside look" said Sunny "Ooh! Wait until you ponies see it! The Field Day games are so elegant! Beautiful! Majestic!" dust then shot up into the air Pipp coughed "Majestic" Misty opened the door to the Brighthouse "Hello? Is anypony home?" she called out "Xavier?, Sunny? Izzy?" she continued "Stay right where you are!" came a voice Misty gasped but then saw it was just the TV "You don't want to miss a minute of our Bridlewood Forest Critter Field Day coverage!" "Oh! This sneaking around stuff is stressful. I wish there was another way for a pony to get a cutie mark. Guess they're not here, though" said Misty sitting down to watch the TV "Next up, it's "Push-Over"! "So, the point of the game is you push somepony over?" asked Sunny "Right! Or they push you over!" said Izzy "You just push? Is there a starting bell? Or a score? Do we flip a bit to see who goes first? Or do I just...?" asked Hitch knocking the Unicorn over "Right! Winner!" said Izzy but she gave the pony that was knock over the trophy "Wait! Him?! That makes no sense!" said Hitch the bunnycorn then knocked over Cloudpuff "Another winner!" said Izzy giving the Bunnycorn the trophy "Whaaaat?" said Hitch
