Maria was currently working in her office, well more like in her office as she wasn't getting anything done anymore. It was around 5pm and she had been working all day and night and hadn't gone home since the other night. Her body felt tired and her brain was not working with her at all and she kept zoning out. Early in the morning, she felt her nose slowly starting to get congested but ignored it as she figured it might be allergies or something.

She was wrong. Her nose was completely stuffy now which was annoying as there was pressure on her face now and her throat was scratchy and felt irritated. While she always had her office cold since she easily got warm, even with how cold it was she couldn't help but rest her forehead on her desk her mind yelling at her to fall asleep there. She sighed as she sat up straight, forcing herself to push through it and get her work done. She manages to work until 7pm when she finally looks away from her computer as her phone dings, wincing as she's hit with a sudden pain in her head. She sighs again and doesn't hesitate to lean down and rest her head on the desk again just as her door opens.

"I'm pretty sure I don't pay you to sleep on the job." Nick says, strolling in. "You don't pay me you're just my boss." Maria replies, her voice raspy and cracking. "You're going home Maria." Nick says, the brunette not looking up at him as he talks. "Maria, I said you're going home." Nick repeats and Maria shakes her head, still resting on the desk. "You look and sound terrible. Go home before I call Natasha." He says, the brunette finally sitting up straight and looking at Nick, her cheeks flushed, her face even more pale and her eyes hooded from tiredness. "I'm perfectly fine. There's no need to call her in." Maria replies, looking back at her computer to finish her work. Nick leaves her office without another work, the door closing softly behind him and Maria sighs, mentally preparing herself to stay up again to do all the work she hadn't done during the day.

45 minutes later, she's interrupted again by a soft knock on her door. The brunette rubbing her head soothingly as her headache had gotten worse and it takes everything in her not to snap at whoever was on the other side of the door. "Come in." Maria rasps out, her voice still harsh and she's glad it doesn't crack as she sits straight up again. Natasha walks in with a concerned look on her face and Maria wishes Nick was in front of her so she could yell at him for calling the redhead. "Maria." Nat says softly as she walks over and leans against the desk in front of Maria. "I'm not leaving." Maria says instantly, looking up into Nat's eyes. "Yes you are. You can't be at work while sick." Nat says softly, her hand moving to undo Maria's bun but the woman stops her. "I'm fine Nat. You can go back home." Maria says, her face softening a bit before Nat sighs. "I really don't want to drag you out of here but I will if I have to Ria." Natasha says and Maria sighs, knowing the redhead would actually drag her out of her office to get her home. "Give me 10 minutes." Maria pleads and Nat shakes her head. "We're leaving now." Natasha says and Maria sighs again before standing up, swaying a bit but Nat quickly moves to hold her steady. "Let's go home and get some medicine in you." Nat murmurs and Maria nods, leaning into Nat as they walk out her office.

They return home and Nat immediately takes Maria to their bed and helps her change into a tank top and underwear. "I'll be back." Nat promises as she helps Maria lay on the bed and kisses her head softly before leaving their apartment, the redhead going to a store to get medicine and soup for Maria. Meanwhile, Maria was laying in bed uncomfortably. Her body temperature had risen throughout the evening and she felt sweaty in their bed. She felt her stomach churn as she rolled onto her side again, the brunette immediately getting up and rushing to the restroom to empty her stomach into the toilet. When she was done, she flushes the toilet and leans against the shower, the pounding in her head taking over making her close her eyes. Maria felt disgusted by how sweaty she felt and was 'pathetically' close to tears at how frustrated she was that she was sick and with how she felt.

When Natasha returned and went to their room, she noticed Maria missing from the bed and placed the bags down on it, going to the restroom door that was closed. "Ria?" Nat asks while softly knocking on the door. She waits a few moments before turning the doorknob, the door unlocked and she frowns as she sees her girlfriend sitting on the floor with her eyes closed, looking more pale then before and a little green. "Hey, did you throw up?" Nat asks softly, kneeling in front of her as she sees her eyes crack open slightly. Maria tilts her head down slightly and Nat sighs softly before gently undoing Maria's bun, watching the brunette's face for any kind of discomfort. Nat then carefully scoops her up from the floor and carries her to the bed, Maria snuggling into her and whining very softly at Nat putting her on the bed.

"You need to take some medicine." Nat murmurs to her, brushing her hair out her face before grabbing one of the bags and taking some liquid medicine out. "No." Maria mumbles as she catches sight of the medicine. "Cmon Ria. The faster we get this done the faster I can lay down with you." Nat bribes, knowing how needy the deputy director gets when she's this sick. Maria huffs softly but doesn't argue as Nat gives her the medicine before helping her drink some water. Next, Nat pulls out a thermometer and puts it in Maria's mouth before quickly changing into a tank top and underwear like Maria. The thermometer goes off and Nat looks at the temperature.

"105 Maria." Nat says, putting the thermometer on the nightstand. Maria hums in response, her eyes fully closed and she tries not to fall asleep as she wanted to wait for Nat to lay down with her. Nat sighs before taking the bags off the bed and putting them by their bedroom door and turns off the lights, the redhead easily making her way to the bed and laying down. Maria immediately rests her head on Nat's chest and places her arm over her stomach, Nat wrapping her arm around Maria's shoulders and gently drags her nails over the brunette's scalp making her sigh softly. Maria falls asleep in seconds as she was fighting her sleep and Nat playing with her hair made her fall asleep every time. Nat kisses her forehead softly and falls asleep as well soon after her girlfriend.
