Pax went barrelling down the stairs, headed towards the door. Willow grabbed his arm, reminding him of the danger posed against them; that Kyler's sacrifice would be in vain if he were to leave the threshold and be taken by the Solar's.
A low growl escaped his throat as the frustration got to him. ''I can't just leave him out there alone! He needs me!!'' Pax couldn't help but bark at his friend, even if she was trying to help.
Willow took a small step back, Pax had never been this angry before and certainly would never speak to her like this. She found it unsettling, without even another word, she brushed past his shoulder and out the door.
''What are you doing?'' Pax called after her, trying to hide his anger and annoyance; not very well, I might add.
Willow huffed a sigh before responding, without looking back. ''Stopping you from doing anything stupid. Now wait here, I mean it, Pax!'' with that, she burst into her wolf form and went sprinting into the trees, not knowing where to find Kyler but following a Vampire scent and hoping for the best.
Pax stood, frozen, knowing she was right, yet still feeling useless and wanting to get Kyler himself.
Tristan emerged down the stairs, he too, feeling useless. A few long strides took him to the couch where he dramatically flailed and puffed out a sigh as he landed.
The air was warm, the sun was high above and as much as they despised the situation, they were stuck, just the two of them.
With folded arms, Pax kicked the door shut and wandered to the kitchen island, lurking for anything he could do; knowing there was nothing.
Rubbing his eyes, Tristan tried to think, Kyler being a new Vamp meant there were so many unknowns, so many new dangers to worry about. His thoughts were muddled and the pots and pans clanging in the kitchen certainly weren't helping.
''Do you mind?'' Tone dripping with annoyance. Pax slammed the cupboard shut in response, sparing a glance of disgust at the laying Vamp.
Stomping loudly around the island to find a chair, Pax wasn't about to let Tristan win; win what, he didn't know, but petty was never off the menu with the Werewolves.
Slouching into an armchair that his dad usually frequented felt unsettling, like Pax was playing pack leader and playing it badly he felt. We know a Loony who would agree.
''How can you just be so still and serene right now?! My mind's about to explode... That's what love is like.'' The words were harsh and yet Pax meant them, there was no way this lowlife could love Kyler even half as much as he did.
Tristan only scoffed, leaving a scowl on Pax's face. ''Seriously? You wanna make it a competition? I've loved Kyler for a decade, you've known him, what, two years? You can't compare to me and you know it.'' Closing his eyes, not having the energy spare for this kind of discussion.
His mouth had dropped open at this, ''You may have known him longer, but you don't know him like I do!'' His voice got higher in his anger, rage spitting out like fire.
This alerted Tristan, ''Woah, calm down dude. He's your boyfriend, I'll back off. You already won, remember?'' Waving his hands in surrender eased Pax, if only slightly. Both boys sat back and the tension settled as both their thoughts continued whirring for Kyler's sake.
It was clear the boys weren't going to get along, switching all concerns to Kyler felt the best option. A long sigh settled the room, clearing it as Pax spoke, softer now. "Is Ky gonna be okay? You know more about Vampirology than me so."
Squinting, Tristan was aware of the turn in conversation with a slight dumbfounded look. "Vampirology? Seriously? Well one thing i can tell you is we don't use the word Vampirology." He chuckled as he leaned forward putting weight on his elbows, clasping his hands together.
"I'm being serious. He's not exactly your ordinary guy, I can't see him adjusting to this lifestyle very well, can you?" Tristans face dropped at the word lifestyle, as if vampirism was a type of diet or exercise routine. He let it go, this was an uncomfortable conversation for the both of them.
"Look, I don't know how this is gonna go. Our best bet is just to support him through it, even though it'll be tricky." He stood up at this, walking to the window. "And for what it's worth I'm sorry, I know how much you both mean to each other and this sucks." Keeping his eyes on the tree line, it wasn't until Pax started to laugh, Tristan turned.
"Nice pun." It took a second for Tristan to start laughing along, maybe this Wolf wasn't the worst person he could be trapped in an empty cottage with.
