Pax had been told about the old war countless times, as a cub he had been fascinated and horrified by the cruelty a father could commit to his own daughter, merely to prove a point to his followers. He had always hoped the Wolves could never be that awful or he feared for his own situation.
His parents weren't aware of his boyfriend, neither the fact he had one nor that he was a human, either way, it probably wouldn't go down well. Pax was just happy to not be a Vamp in a situation like this.
Going to high school was a way to blend in just long enough for Pax to grow into his own future. Once he was old enough, he could choose to be in a pack, make his own or even go lone wolf. The one decision that Wolves almost never picked, that had never crossed Pax's mind, not until he met Kyler; to live as a human.
The first class of the day, Pax sat at the back as usual, waiting for that oh so familiar face to walk through the door. His vision was blocked by the teacher, bringing his attention upwards. ''Pax?...'' Mrs Applegate had essentially sighed his name instead of speaking it.
''What? Can't you see me?'' Pax had asked, sarcastically. Mrs Applegate rolled her eyes, sighing once more before she went back to the front of the classroom. The teachers did a lot of sighing when Pax was involved, they didn't seem to like him much.
Returning his eyes to the door, he spots Kyler bouncing on the balls of his feet anxiously. Kyler sees him looking and motions for him to come outside, Pax obliges, grabbing his bag from the floor and ignoring the teachers fed up calls.
When they were down the hall a ways, Kyler turned around, surprising Pax by throwing his arms around his shoulders. Pax smiled as he wrapped his arms around Ky's torso, smelling his cologne, it mixed with his natural scent perfectly. Kyler pulled back from the hug to reveal the tears.
Kyler grabbed Pax's hand and pulled him to the front of the school, pushing through the front door and sitting on the steps. He followed closely behind not wanting to sit down, he was worried. Walking down the stairs, watching the sky, his eyes squinting as the sun shone brightly, turning quickly around, focusing all his attention on Kyler, the most important thing in his life.
Pax walked over and knelt in front of Kyler, as close as he could get. ''Ok, what's up?'' He asked once Ky had stopped hyperventilating, trying to keep his tone light, which he usually had trouble with.
He watched with interest as Kyler's eyes wandered over the ground, the steps, the trees, the sky, anywhere except meeting Pax's. He does that a lot when he's nervous, though Pax finds it adorable.
It takes a minute but his breathing slows and returns to normal, then he turns slightly to face his boyfriend. Kyler's face is paler than usual, ''I really need you right now, I- uh- I- I got kicked out this morning, my parents told me to pack up and leave. I'm sorry, I just really wanted to tell them about you and I didn't think they'd react this badly and I- I fucked up.''
He automatically ducks his head in shame at the end, his voice is quiet and quaky, he's really shaken up and starts to cry again. Pulling him back into Pax's shoulder, holding him close, rocking him for a minute. ''I'll always be here for you, always, you can stay at mine as long as you need to.'' He whispered close to Ky's ear, trying to soothe him, it seemed to be working as Pax intertwined his fingers into his boyfriend's silky blond hair, pulling his head back and staring deeply in to his big brown eyes.
His smile quickly reappears as Kyler leans down to face Pax, stealing a kiss, not that he minded; it was the first time they had kissed at school though. Standing excitedly, pulling Ky behind him, Pax started to sprint in the direction of the forest, not letting go of Ky's hand for a second.
