Vallie Ricci
I'm exhausted. Working a twelve hour nursing shift while five months pregnant is not fun. My feet hurt my back hurts, I have a headache, and I've felt nauseous for five hours now. Thankfully, I'm walking through the front door of my small house right now.
I get in the house and drop all of my things right next to the door. Walking into the living room, I see my fiance Rainer sitting on the couch watching a football game. I plop down next to Rainer and snuggle into his side.
"Hey baby, how are my two favorite girls?" Rainer says while rubbing my back. And yes, you heard that right we are having a baby girl.
"Well I for one, am exhausted and in pain, but baby girl is enjoying herself very much."
"There anything I can get you?" He says while looking like he wants to wrap me up in bubble wrap and take me to the hospital. God men are dramatic. I dont comment on his concern, though, knowing I'll be alright, but I do ask him to go get me the jar of pickles from the refrigerator.
A minute later, Rainer is walking in the living room, holding a jar of pickles. As he's walking in his dirty blond hair falls in front of his eyes. This causes him to hit his shoulder on the side of the door, causing me to giggle from my spot on our tiny gery couch. Rainer just looks at me and smiles, loving the fact that he is able to make me laugh.
When Rainer sits down, I just look over at him and smile.
"What are you smiling about over there."
"I just love you so much. And you're kind of nice to look at." I responded while smirking.
He let out huff and says, "Just kind of?"
Then, the next thing I know, he's gently throwing himself at me and starts to tickle me.
"No, Rain stop, I im going to pee myself!"
"Then say I'm the best-looking guy you've ever seen!"
"Never!" I shout.
"Are you sure about that?" He says while still tickling me.
"Fine! Fine! You're the best-looking guys I have ever seen!" I yell, and then I jump off the coutch and run to the bathroom.
When im done in the bathroom, I start walking down the hall, and out of the corner of my eye, I see a picture of my mom and I. My favorites to be exact. The picture was taken in a sunflower field a month before my mom lost her battle with cancer. I love this picture because she just looks so happy. Sunflowers were something we both shared a love for. They are just so beautiful. It's been around five years since my mom passed away, and I still miss her every day.
I never knew my father. That was one topic my mom would never talk about. All she ever said about him is that he abandoned us. I have tried to figure out who he is over the year but never had any luck given that I have no information about him, not even a first name.
Once I finished staring at the picture I walk to the kitchen to get another snack.

After a very uneventful evening of dinner and more snuggling on the couch, watching our favorite movie. We made it to our bedroom around ten o'clock and did our night routines. Then we got into bed and snuggled together and went to sleep, ready to get up bright and early and do the same thing all over again.

3 AM Vallies pov
I shoot up into a sitting position in our bed and listen. There's someone banging on the front door. I look over to see Rainer still fast asleep and start shaking his shoulder. He's always been a deep sleeper.
"Rain wake up. There's someone banging on the door."
He rolls over and looks at me with a confused look on his face, and I stare right back at him. The next thing I know, Rainer has shot out of bed and is heading towards the front door while I'm following him.
"Rainer, be careful!" I whisper shout to him as I go behind a wall that has a view of the front door, so I can't be seen.
Kode gets to the door and looks out the peep hole. When he sees whoever it is, he hesitantly opens the door.
When the door is open, I hear a man on the other side say. "Is Vallie Ricci here?"
