Sadies POV
The annoying beeping of my alarm goes off, but I get up right away anyway. Turning it off, I sit up. My layers of blankets fall off, and I remember why I hate spring- my room gets absolutely freezing in the spring.
Man, two months really feel like nothing nowadays
"Sadie!" My mom yells, "Do you want breakfast?"
"Sure, mom!" I yell up. I get up, grabbing my bathrobe. Running up the stairs, I already can smell the waffles from behind my door. Opening the door, my moms already standing there. "Morning mom," I say with a smile, grabbing the plate of waffles from her, and heading to the kitchen. "How's your knee feeling today?" I glance down at the gnarly scar.
"So good!" She exclaims with her high enthusiasm. I sit at the dinner table, beginning to bite in to the warm waffle. "And did you sign up for your spring classes yet?" I freeze, having completely forgotten. I've been debating two things: doing them online to spend more time in Beach City, or taking a gap year. My mom would be livid if I took a gap year, so that's out of the question."Uh..." I start, grabbing my second waffle, "Not...yet."
"Are you doing them online or in person?" My mom tries to pry for more answers, and I don't know what to tell her.
"Wow, look at the time, I got to go mom!" With that, I run right back down to my room, shutting the door behind me. I'm surprised with how good her knee is now, that she didn't chase. me. I fish for my shirt in my clean pile of clothes. I grab the white button up, which is my new uniform. I slip on my work appropriate jeans, and grab my stupid paper hat.I'm so glad I got properly rehired.
As I'm packing a bag for my overnight shift, my phone starts ringing. I answer it, and put it on speaker phone. "Hello?"
"Hey!" It's Ronaldo. "It's been awhile..."
"Yeah," I say, dryly, remembering how rude he was towards me the last time he called.
"Look, I just wanted to call and apologize for how I acted last time. And I'm sorry I haven't talked to you the past two months. But I have a valid reason for both."
"Oh?" I ask, changing in to my uniform. "And what's that?"
"I'm asking Jenny to marry me tonight." I gasp loudly.
"Oh my god!"
"I know!" He squeals, "I've been busting my ass off at work, and I finally was able to make enough money for a really nice ring."
"That's amazing Ronaldo, I'm so happy for you guys."I grab my laptop, packing it in my backpack. "You know you're one of my best friends, right?" Ronaldo asks me, making me stop in my tracks.
"Of course, and you're mine."
"Then you'd understand why I'd be worried about you and Lars getting back together." I sharply suck in air, forgetting to tell him how we've been. "Don't tell me."
"Yeah, but trust me, Lars really has changed from all those years ago." He doesn't respond, and I realize the time. "Crap, I'm going to be late to work. I gotta go Ronaldo, but PLEASE call me later and tell me what Jenny says!"
"Sadie, wait-"
"Bye!" Quickly, I hang up. I toss my bag over my shoulder, running up the stairs. "Thanks for the breakfast mom! Love you!" Then I run out the front door, really not wanting to talk about college with my mom right now.I'm not sure what I want to do anyways.
While going at a light jogging pace, it doesn't take me long to get to the Big Donut. And of course, there's not a soul in sight. I open the front door, and I spot Lars, asleep on the job. As I walk up to him, I notice his cast is finally off. Quietly, I walk past him and get to the back and set my backpack on the table. I grab my purple apron that's hanging on the wall. I put it on, and I glance at the time, seeing I have a good thirty minutes before my shift starts. Sitting down, I take out my laptop, and turn it on. The first thing I see when I log in, is my schools main page. Looking at it, had me thinking.
Lars and I have been pretty good recently.
But I do miss my friends back at CU.
Tapping my fingers on the keyboard, I check all the classes I need to take for the upcoming semester. Without thinking, I start signing up for the courses I needed in order to graduated. Coincidentally, they are all required to be in person. "Well," I mumble to myself, "I guess there's my answer."
Lars POV
My phone alarm goes off, waking me up from my mid-day nap. I stretch in my chair, somehow I'm still able to keep it leaned against the glass case. As I sit up, I notice Sadie isn't near me. "Sadie?" No response. So, I get up, and turn the corner, glancing in the backroom. I spot her, she's sitting at the table, and watching something on her laptop. She has her earbuds in, so that's why she didn't hear me. Although, she spots me now, removing one of her earbuds.
"Oh! Hey Lars," I smile at her, the glow from her laptop making her face a light shade of blue.
"Hey," I walk up to her, and place a kiss on the top of her head. "Ready for the night shift?"
"As ready as I'll ever be." I laugh softly, and take the seat across from her. "Did you get your cast taken off today?" I look confused, then remember it was super early in the morning that I got it off."Oh! Yeah, I did."
"How did you hurt it again? I don't think you ever told me." The conversation I had with Jenny comes back to my mind, but I push it away.
"Oh, yeah, I got mad at a video game, so I punched the wall." Sadie nods, realizing how accurate that is.I'm not fully lying at least.
"Hey, there's been something I've been meaning to talk to you about." She looks at me, with a raised eyebrow.
"What?"She sounds super skeptical.
"Nothing bad! I promise." She hears the seriousness in my tone, and closes her laptop. Removing her earbuds from her ears all together, she gives me her full, undivided attention. "I know we've been 'together' for like two months now, but you know we've known and been with each other in total a lot longer than that." She nods, agreeing. "So, I was wondering..." I begin to fiddle with my fingers, feeling a little nervous.
Come on, pussy!
"Do...do you want to move in with me?" Her eyebrows raise, blind-sided by this request.
"What??"
"Look, I know it's out of the blue. But I really do love and care about you, and I want to show you how serious I am about us. I want us to live together."
"This is going really fast,"
"Technically it's not."
"I...I don't know what to say."
"That's easy, yes!" I keep trying to convince her, but I have a gut feeling she's going to say no.I mean, it was worth a shot.
"I mean, my moms going to be kind of hurt."
I can't help but gasp, "Wait, does that mean...yes?" Slowly, she begins to nod a smile creeping across her face. I jump up from my seat, rejoicing. I lean towards my love, giving her a big kiss on the lips. Then, I get a glance of the time, "Oh crap, I need to go. I got to start cleaning the house." I decide in that moment to be a little cheesy, and cup her face with my hands, "I love you, my player two." As I begin to leave, I hear Sadies phone beginning to go off, but I don't care to stay and ask her who it is.
The house really is a mess.
I'm probably going to be up late cleaning it.
But it'll be all worth it for her.
