Sadies POV

I sit next to Connie, munching on some pizza, Pearl stands awkwardly beside me, and I offer her a slice of the pizza that everyone is eating. "Oh, no, I don't...eat." She says, judging the pizza. Amethyst scoots right up against me, hearing me mention food. She grabs two slices, sliding them in her mouth like a slot machine.

She didn't even chew!?

Garnet comes from outside, not saying a word. I don't dwell on it, as Kiki comes out from the back room. "Okay Jenny, I'm here. What did you want to tell us." Jenny smiles, putting down her slice of pizza. Jenny sent me a text earlier today, saying she wanted to see me, along with the Crystal Gems and Connie.

"Well, you are all girls, and as you all know-" she shows off her hand, and I finally get a good glance of the rock on her finger, "I got engaged," She squeals, and I can't help but smile at her enthusiasm. "And I was wondering, if you all wanted to be my bridesmaids!" Kiki gasps, and Jenny looks at her, smiling,
"But Kiki, I want you to be my maid of honor." Kiki's eyes start to water, trying hard not to freak out. She's able to squeak out,
"I'd love to." Jenny then looks at everyone on my side of the table.
"So?" She waits on our response, and Connie answers first.

"I'd love to Jenny, but with all the activities my mom has me signed up for, and training with Pearl and Steven, I don't think I can make more time for something like that. I'm really sorry,"
"Yes, Jenny, I'm sorry, as we're going to have to decline as well," Pearl says, clasping her hands together, trying to be as nice as possible. "Weddings aren't something gems usually spend time doing-"
"There are some exceptions," Garnet says, smiling softly.
"Yeah," Amethyst comments, eating another slice. "They're nice and all, but we don't have time for them."
"We'll still try to attend the ceremony." Pearl continues, smiling. Then, the future bride looks at me. I feel as though I'm put on the spot. But I shouldn't have any reason to be nervous around her anymore, as we've become better friends ever since I came back.

"Well, sure. I think I can do that." Jenny smiles wide, and we all continue chatting and eating pizza. Before we know it, the day is coming to a close, the sun beginning to set. The gems leave, and Connie follows. I pay for my half of the meal with Kiki, and I begin to leave the establishment.

"Hey, Sadie?" Jenny stops me right outside the pizzeria. The sun is setting right above the ocean, and it looks like it was an actual painting.
"Yeah?" I say, drawing myself back to reality.
"There's something I've been meaning to tell you. It's about Lars." I give her a perplexed look.
"What about him?"
"Well, I mean, it was years ago now. But it was right after you guys broke up," Before she continues, she takes a step back in to the restaurant. "Do you want to sit down for this?" I debate doing it, but I know it couldn't be that bad. So, I shake my head no.
"Well..." She looks at me, with a little bit of guilt in her eyes. "For the first few months you were gone, Lars would send me...really inappropriate texts and photos sometimes. Whenever he'd drink he'd get plastered and blow up my phone, begging to 'get with me'." This new information did sting a bit, but at that time, he was single, and so was I.

"Oh wow, ew." I say, fully on Jennys side of this, "I'm sorry about that,"
"But that's not it." She has my full attention in this conversation, and I'm just worried about what she'd say next. "He called you a lot of nasty names, that I honestly don't feel like repeating right now (A/N: plus they'd probably get this chapter taken down LOL), but he really said a lot of mean things about you. Like, how you were a bitch for leaving him behind. He'd never forgive you for what you did. How you'd be a loser without him, and were a loser with him. Just...tons of terrible things." My heart begins to ache.

Why would he say such mean things?

"I-I mean, he was upset that I left,"
"Sadie," Jenny says, "Don't. Don't try and justify what he said. If he really loved you then he wouldn't have done what he did." The tears begin forming in my eyes, so I look out to the beautiful ocean, trying to calm myself down. "And, I'm sorry I was the one to tell you, and not Lars himself. Ronaldo and I have been talking about it for awhile and-" The tears practically vanish, as I realize what she just said.
"Wait," I say, interrupting her. "You and Ronaldo knew about this, the whole time, and didn't think to tell me??" My brain brings me back to that one day Jenny randomly came over to my house. I think of the multiple times Ronaldo told me about his 'concerns' about me and Lars.
"We tried to have Lars tell you himself!" I feel so betrayed, and hurt, and confused.
"But you decided to tell me now, out of all the other times I've seen you both? Really??" At this point, I feel like everyone was just hiding their true feelings to spare my own. I was done, and fed up.

"Actually Jenny...I won't be able to be apart of your wedding party. Something came up. I'll see you later." Then, I turn and begin my walk back to the house that I now share with the one who prayed on my downfall when I was leaving to be the better version of me.

Lars POV

I wait at the door, with a pack of beers in my hand. I make sure my car is locked, the beeping sounding off. Then, the door opens. Ronaldo stands in front of me, and I turn to look at him. I hold up the beer. "I brought some beer, hope that's okay."
"What are you, fifty?" He jokes, stepping to the side, letting me in. I laugh, nodding.
"Feels like I am."
"Cause you're drunk most of the time." I wince at his second come back.
"Damn, Ronaldo." We begin the trek up the spiral stairs. After making it to the top, he walks across the clutter papers and books, to the door leading to the outside. We walk to the outside, and I'm taken aback by the view. "Wow," I look to my left, and see he has two lawn chairs laid out. I take a seat at the furthest one, and he takes the other. I crack open a beverage, and hand it to Ronaldo. "So, what's up?" I ask, placing the pack in between us, and take a sip.

Ronaldo randomly texted me earlier, that he had something he needed to tell me and to come over to the lighthouse as soon as possible. Ronaldo sighs, staring up at the night sky. "I wanted to tell you, that Jenny and I are now engaged."
"No way," I say, smiling. I give him a pat on the back, "That's amazing, man. Congratulations!" He smiles back, looking at me.
"And I wanted to ask you something,"
"Oh," I say, assuming what he wanted to ask. "I'm flattered dude, but I don't think I have the responsibilities to be a best man," He laughs. A loud laugh that makes the metal against my back shake.
"No, I'm sorry," He says, "I wasn't going to ask you that." I'm kind of offended by his reaction, but I still await what he wanted to ask me. I tag a few chugs of my beer, finishing it. "I wanted to ask, if you'd be the officiant." I nod, not knowing what that is. He realizes I don't know what that is either, and explains it, "It's the guy who stands by the bride and groom and says a whole speech and says 'you may now kiss the bride'."

"Oh!" I nod, opening up my second beer. "Damn man, I'm honored." But before I can accept, my mind begins to think about all that easily could go wrong if I'm even involved in this wedding. "If it's alright with you, can I give you my answer later?"
"Of course, take your time man." He holds out his beer, and I clink mine against his. Then, I begin to chug mine in celebration, while Ronaldo takes a big sip of his. As I finish mine, I crunch it, and toss it to the ground next to me. "So, who is going to be your best man."
"I'm struggling between my dad and my little brother," Ronaldo looks off on to the never-ending ocean, "But, I think I'm going to go with Peedee."
"I've always wanted a brother," I confess, "but I guess the universe didn't want that for him." We both become silent, listening to the waves and the breeze.

"If you don't mind me asking, is Jenny okay with me being in the wedding, like, at all?" I open up another beer. He chuckles,
"I mean, at first she wanted to ban you from the event all together," I laugh, knowing that they probably would have.
"And why didn't you guys?" He sighs, taking another sip of his beer, and I do the same.
"I...don't know. You knew we came to your party last night, right?" I vaguely remember talking to two people that looked a lot like the two of them, but I didn't quite remember. "Congrats on the move, by the way." I nod, sipping my beer. "But how you were talking about Sadie, it really showed me how much you've changed- you weren't lying. I really appreciate you changing for her."

We both chuckle, enjoying each others company and the ocean air. "You know," Ronaldo starts, taking another sip of his beer. "I almost didn't invite you over,"
"Oh?" I take a long sip of my beer,
"Yeah, I thought you still didn't tell Sadie about that whole thing, but Jenny assured me you did." I feel the beer I was currently drinking go straight to my lungs. I spit it all out, nearly choking on it. "Oh shit, are you okay Lars?" I hack loudly, looking at him.
"What the fuck do you mean I told her? I didn't tell her yet!"
"You didn't tell her yet!?"
"I was about to, okay? After she moved in, I was going to tell her-" Then the reality hits me. "Oh shit," I drop my beer at the realization of how screwed I was. The can clatters against the metal ground, the rest of the beer going all over the floor, and I spring up from my chair. Sprinting to the exit of the lighthouse, I begin going down the long and tiring spiral stair case.

"Shit shit shit," I say to myself, almost busting my ass on the last few steps, but I'm able to catch myself, and sprint to the outside. I stopped at my car, reaching in my pockets for my keys. But after the few beers I had in my system, I really didn't want to take the risk. "Gah, fuck it." I stuff the keys back in my pockets, and start making the very long sprint back to my house.
