"I'm tired of lovin' from afar
And never being where you are."

January, 2020:

We agreed that would either be the end or we'd come back to life. I guess we had to be completely and utterly torn down and start from scratch for things to be okay. Like a butterfly from a cocoon, we're doing better now than we have for a long time. It's been a month since we had that agreement. We decided to take it little by little.

T̶o̶d̶a̶y̶ i̶s̶ o̶u̶r̶ f̶i̶r̶s̶t̶ d̶a̶t̶e̶. Scratch that. Today is our first official date. Spencer likes to refer to it as a "proper date" though. It's cause he won't tell me where we're going or what we're doing. I must admit I'm curious, but mostly cause I have no clue what to wear. Although, knowing Spencer it won't involve strenuous physical activity.

I slide on a pair of jeans, a cute top and some converse, and dubbed that an appropriate outfit for what we could possibly be doing that Saturday morning. I curled my hair and did my makeup next. Finally, I was ready to go. I smiled down at my phone as Spencer texted me that he was outside.

We were really finally doing this!

I giddily walked out of my apartment and locked it behind me. I practically bounded down the stairs towards the front of the building where Spencer's car sat. Knowing him it'd be extremely clean considering his germaphobic tendencies and lack of time he spends in his car.

"Hey," I smiled getting into the passengers seat.

"Hi. You look beautiful," he smiled, a rose-y shade glazing his cheeks.

"You don't look too bad yourself," I quipped back. "Where are we headed?"

"It's a surprise," he replied, driving out of my complex's parking lot.

"Still? Cmon Spence! You know I hate surprises, and I'm impatient and I'm-"

"Stubborn. Very stubborn."

"Exactly!"

"No. Y/n, my answer is no. You'll have to wait and see," he said with finality, eyes set on the road in front of him.

"You're no fun!" I pouted.

"You are the one whose trying to ruin the surprise!" He replied, voice going up a few octaves.

"Ugh!" I sighed, sitting back in my seat. After a few minutes of chatting, Spencer suddenly changed the subject.

"Cover your eyes."

"What?" I replied with a laugh.

"Cover your eyes." He said again.

"Ooo kinky," I joked, shutting my eyes and placing my hands over them.

"I can't have the surprised ruined, can I?" He said, turning off the car.

"I guess not," I replied as his car door shut. I only waited a moment before I felt a breeze hit my right side as as he opened my door. He gently grabbed my elbow and guided me out of the car. From there we walked a couple more feet, the crunching of leaves could be heard from under us on the pavement.
