Running. . .

That's all your mind could think about. The fact that 'it' was following you. . . It's sharp claws, the spiked back, and its terrible; horrible roar. The roar that shook the trees almost making you lose your balance. Yet this was not enough to stop you from running away. Stumbling across a cottage, you checked the door to find it was unlocked. Running into the cottage and slamming the door shut, you saw a shadow of a dragon looking creature right above the window covered door. The shadow then shouted words you didn't fully understand knowing you were only two barely aware of the world around you. As the shadow faded away from the window, you sighed in relief and checked around the cottage.

The cottage was simple yet lovely looking. The furniture was made of wood and the cooking appliances looked clean and new. The place looked as if it was built from a fairytale. You wondered around the cottage to find a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, dinning room, and a whole library. Being curious, you picked up the smallest book from the lowest shelf and opened it. As you were reading, the words slowly started making sense like you were learning them on the spot. You thought it was normal yet being able to read really took months to learn.

Now being twenty-five you have now almost read every book in your medium sized library. You even read the dictionary you owned. The only issue was the fact you had no memory of anything that happened before the incident and you wanted to know more about the outside world. The only time you would leave the cottage was to pick berries, water from the river, and mushrooms to make food and soup to eat. You only had good thoughts on the world though. You imagined a world full of imagination and adventure, color and mystery. Yet all you could see was mist, and trees. . .

Looking in the library for the last time because you were on the last book, something caught your eye. A piece of paper ended up falling out of the page as you flipped to the last page. Reading the last page and putting it back into the book shelf, you went back to your table and looked at the piece of paper. The paper looked as old as time and yet untouched and clean at the same time.

"That's a strange message? I was just debating on going out of the forest anyway. . . Maybe I'm just over reacting about this and I should go out anyway. . . Yeah! You've been ready for this for years (Y/n)! You can do this!"

You first changed into something you were comfortable with and getting your bag that you found in the bedroom in the closet. You started to pack. Grabbing your favorite books, some berries and. . . the paper? You didn't put it in the bag? You don't have a pet either that could have slipped the paper in either, you lived alone. . . Shrugging it off, you finished up putting the rest of your stuff in the bag, closed it up and headed out the door looking back at the cottage one last time before turning back around and walking into the misted forest.
