Chapter 20:

"Did he answer?" Minjee's dad asked, she nodded as she sat next to him. Donghae's dad, on the other hand, hadn't said a word since he came. He looked at her in disbelief. He did not expect her to be Kim Minjee. Although she knew part of him was happy because it will be much easier for Donghae since they know each other and for the public since they have been linked together before.

"What did he say?" Minjee's father asked her as she shifted around her seat uncomfortably. She looked at him and forced a smile, "He can't come." She lied,

Minjee knows his father is already knowledgeable about her relationship with Donghae. What makes her uncomfortable is that he did not bring up any of it after they came back from Mokpo.

"What?" Her dad and Mr. Lee both said in unison. The first word Mr. Lee ever said to her since he arrived; besides his eyes glued on her and back to his phone. They looked at each other for a second then turned their attention back to her.

She forced a smile, "but I'll convince him to come tomorrow." She said, trying to neutralize the tension in the atmosphere. Both of them sighed in relief.

"You are indeed your father's daughter," Donghae's father smirked, "Even I can't make my son come without threatening him." Mr. Lee laughed, but not genuine enough to convince Minjee.

"Ofcourse!" Her dad agreed, beaming at her, "Oh, and by the way, I just noticed, it's great to see you're still wearing that necklace I gave you." He smiled, "I thought you lost it."

She held the pendant of the necklace and sighed,

Mr. Lee and Mr. Kim started conversing about business related topics she couldn't relate so she decided to excused herself. She told her dad she'll be going home first.

She walked out of the restaurant and begged her bodyguards to let her go home alone but they insisted on following her under her father's order.

I just want to have a little walk. She sighed as she looked down. Good thing one of them, Jin-woon, has been her bodyguard for years and they had been close so she told the others to let him be the only one to guard her. After convincing them, they eventually agreed on the condition that Jin-woon contact them once she's home.

She walked down the empty streets, Jin-woon guarding her from a safe distant.

How peaceful. She thought as her eyes wandered. Her mind was occupied that she didn't notice that tears started to flow down her cheeks. She bit her lower lip, trying to hold back the flush of feelings. How I wish I'm by your side tonight, Donghae.

"Hyemin. I love you. Please,""come back to me." Donghae's voice echoed in her thoughts.
