Chapter 13:
Donghae messed his hair out of frustration. It's been more than an hour since showered and dressed up. He stood up from his, and walked to her door.
"Ya, Jung Hyemin!" He knocked, "If you are not done yet in the count of ten, I'll drag you back to Seoul!" No answer.
"One!" I started,
"Two!"
"Three!"
"Fou-" The door flew open, Minjee glared at him. She was wearing a lacey white dress, her face with just enough make up to emphasize her eyes. Donghae felt his heart beat.
"What the heck?" She said angrily, Donghae took a stepped back; caught off guard.
" 'What the heck?' "He finally answer, after he got himself together, "Ya! What time is it and you're still not ready?!"
"Ya! You think it's that easy to find the perfect dress to make myself pretty?!" She retorted, "You're not even thankful I'm trying to dress pretty for you!" Both of them fell silent; Minjee realized she had been too honest. Donghae cleared his throat and looked away. This is awkward. He thought.
"A-anyway, we should get going." He said in a low voice,
Minjee rolled her eyes, "Arasso, you're so impatient." She took her bag and walked out. This girl is really short tempered. He thought.
They started walking around the streets of Mokpo. The ice cream shop is not that far. IT was Donghae's favorite. He glanced at her from time to time, looking at her as her eyes twinkle in the sights ahead of her. Has she always been this beautiful? He thought. Minjee caught him staring and turned to him,
"Ya, stop it. It's making me uncomfortable." She said, embarrassed. Donghae looked away and into the streets ahead of them. It reminded him why they made a bet.
He recalled his conversations with his friends
-
"Ya, I heard you almost got kicked out." Hyukjae said as he sat down beside him.
Donghae shrugged, "It was his fault. I saw him bullying a junior. He deserved it." He said like it was nothing, "My dad wants me to transfer. He said it's a school belonged to the Kim's."
Hyukjae turned to look at him, "Really? Why so sudden?"
"Well, besides the fact that I got suspended just now," He laughed, "He said it's a school to be handed down to her daughter. He has this idea that she's studying there."
"Why? Do you think it's true?"
"I don't know. Possibly. He's been pestering me to find her," He paused to think, then continued, "He wants me to marry her."
Hyukjae didn't say anything and he continued, "How can I marry someone I'm not in love with? That's unfair."
"Still can't get over her, huh?" He asked him. Donghae shook his head,
"I can't even think of Mokpo without thinking of her too," He turned to Hyukjae; he was about to continue when Heechul interrupted,
"Ya, Lee Donghae. Let's bet!" He said, excitement in his eyes.
"I'm not in the mood to play," Donghae answered, but Heechul sat beside him and continued,
"Look at this," He showed a picture of a girl, "Pretty, isn't she? She's from the school you're transferring to. I heard guys there have a crush on her but she's really hard to get."
