"You're here?" A voice echoed throughout the dark alley as Donghae walked towards a group of men crowding in the corner. All of them turned around in disbelief as their friend had actually come to the group's daily meeting.
He did not come there for awhile because of some busy. He was often too busy that he would forget it.
"So you finally decided to show up." A voice interrupted. Donghae just smirked at them.
"Since the bet, you haven't joined us for awhile. What happened? Are you really enjoying yourself that much?" Another member commented.
"Was I really that obvious?" He told them sarcastically. After the short greeting, the members welcomed him back especially Hyukjae who was really closed to him since they were young.
All of them talked about how many girls they had flirted last night when they went clubbing, how they got drunk and all went crazy. But Donghae just stood there, listening. His thoughts elsewhere.
He haven't done clubbing for awhile since the bet they made last month.
"So? how's everything?" Hyukjae approached him and stood by his side. He offered him some cigarette but he shook his head. Hyukjae stared at him, unable to believe he refused a stick. Usually, even if he wouldn't offer, Donghae would just get the pack from his pocket. He'd always protest but end up giving him some as he knows it's Donghae's way to relieve stress, especially from his family matters. But now, it's like he changed.
"Doing great. No, no. I don't smoke nowadays." He smiled a little. Hyukjae stared at him suspiciously but did not press on the matter.
"So, how about the girl? Has she become your girlfriend yet?" He asked while raising an eyebrow. Donghae avoided his eyes,
"No, not yet. But she will." He smirked at Hyukjae. No girl has ever rejected him. No one. He could make a girl fall for him really hard in just a snap of his finger.
Hyukjae laughed at his bestfriend and suddenly recalled something,
"How about that little girl you've been looking for? Have you found her yet?" Donghae looked at him and smiled sadly. He almost forgot. It was ages ago. He couldn't even remember much of that little girl's face. All he can recall was that day when he saw her on a playground.
He'd often go there, expecting he to see her again but end up walking back home, disappointed.
"It's okay. Someday you will. If you were meant to be, destiny will find its way." Hyukjae tried to comfort him. He had been looking for that little girl for almost 10 years now.
Throughout the years, Donghae just couldn't forget her. Yes, they were young then but from that time he saw her, he felt like cupid's arrow hit him deep almost immediately. He promised himself he'd be the only girl he wants to marry someday. His first love, and hopefully his last.
Donghae could only smile at his friend. Hyukjae is the only one who knew about it.
He might flirt around girls and play with them but Hyukjae knew he doesn't take them seriously. A strong man may be feared by many but it takes one woman for him to cower.
FLASHBACK:
Little Donghae followed a little girl as she walked towards the playground to play.
But he stopped when the girl turned around and glared at him. He looked away, feeling like he got caught on doing something bad.
"Are you following me?" The little girl said, trying to make her voice powerful and scary as she placed her hands on her waist.
Of course he'll get caught. He followed her not-so-sneekily.
"N-no!" Little Donghae denied and turned around as if he was leaving.
When he noticed she wasn't looking at him anymore, he followed her again but this time, more carefully.
She went to the playground and started running. He sat behind a tree, not far away from where she is and fixated his eyes on her. She's so pretty. He thought. What should I ask her.
As he tried to come up with questions to ask, he saw another girl pushed her to the ground. He stood up,
"Hey! Get out of here! This is my playground!" The mean girl shouted as she pushed the little girl down the ground, her pretty white dress now covered with dirt.
"But i'm waiting for oppa here..." She said softly as she stood up and dusted her clothes, pouting. The mean girl didn't seem to mind as she picked a stick from the ground and hit the little girl's leg and thigh.
Before she gets hit again, Little Donghae pushed the mean girl away.
"Yah! What are you doing?" He yelled as he helped the little girl up.
The mean girl ran away, scared.
"T-thanks." She almost said it in a whisper. Anytime soon, she'll burst into tears.
Little Donghae patted her back to comfort her.
"It's okay." He was about to ask her name when she wiped her tears, stood up and ran towards another boy approaching. She smiled like nothing happened. As he saw her, he his face lit up, smiled back and welcomed her hug.
Little Donghae just stood there, staring at both of them until they're out of sight.
He kicked his foot on the ground, frustrated as a little shinning necklace caught his attention.
It must be hers. He ran towards their direction trying to find her but they were gone.
I should just return it tomorrow. He thought.
Next day came, he searched for her all over and even waited for her at the playground outside, expecting she come by to play again, but no one came.
He returned again the next day. and the next. and the next. but no little girl came. He always waited at the playground but end up walking home disappointed.
~
He took the necklace out of his leather jacket as he sighed.
'Where are you now?'
