I found myself perched on the kitchen counter, as my mom continued to feed me fruits while preparing breakfast.
"Are you planning on going out today?" Mom asked. I nodded, although it wasn't really a plan. It was a college-organized trip, with doctors and students participating. We were heading to a rural area to set up a camp and check their residents.
"Take care of yourself, okay?" Mom said, and I nodded again.
Dad came over and hugged mom from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder as he watched her cook.
"I tried waking up our son, but he's cranky," Dad mentioned.
"He was playing games last night," I complained. Last night when I returned to my room after studying, he was already awake and using my phone.
Because of his actions only, I had to adjust the settings on my phone to make it age-appropriate. I didn't want him accidentally stumbling upon anything inappropriate.
"Why do you give him your phone? He's still a kid. Don't let him have it. And remember, you'll be traveling by bus. I won't be there, so take care," Dad advised, before turning his attention back to mom.
"Give her a packet of candy," he mumbled, mom nodded and resumed giving both me and my dad fruits.

"It was a long journey. I'm so tired," I muttered, earning glances from both Dikshit and Ananya.
"Madam, you were sleeping the whole ride . Rooms haven't been assigned yet. Why don't we get one room?" Dikshit suggested. I quickly hugged him in excitement, but as I did, I felt someone's gaze on me.
I turned around, hoping to see my love or just a random person, but to my disappointment, there was no one there.
"Ananya, save me! This girl is trying to take advantage of me," Dikshit joked, causing us to lightly punch his sides as we joined the rest of the group.
We made our way to the staff member who was distributing room keys.
"Here you go, Ms. You'll have to be alone in a room since everyone else has a partner. You're the extra one here," the staff member informed me.
Extra one? What do you mean by extra? You're the one who's extra here, not me.
"Sir, do you want to share your room with Ms. Ayushi?" He asked Rihaan in joking manner, whom I hadn't noticed before. How could I do this? How could I ignore my Rihaan? We must be losing our minds. It would be fun if we shared the room. And I don't think he will say no, since I'm not just his so-called student. We are more like friends than student-teacher.
I waited for his answer, his eyes met mine and this time they didn't seem warm. They seemed cold and angry.
"I will not share my room with a student," he said and walked away. Did he actually say that? A student? I'm his friend first. Why does he want to create distance between us? What if the distance becomes too much? I don't want to be away from him.
But right now, my biggest question is, do I have to stay in a room alone? No one knows this, but I can't sleep alone. It's not just Aryan who can't sleep alone in a room. Whenever I try to sleep alone, all these horror movie ghosts appear in my mind. I can't even blink my eyes.
How will I sleep alone? I made my way to Ananya. This dumb Dikshit will sleep alone, not me. I would rather die than sleep alone.

The way my blood boiled looking at Ayushi while she was hugging that boy. I don't know when she will leave these habits.
And doesn't she know how to hug a boy? You shouldn't just fully attach your body to him. He can feel you, but no, she just hugs someone like that.
Again, she stood, putting one hand on that boy's shoulder and the other on the girl. Wait, she isn't thinking about sharing her room with them, right? I don't want her to share a room with some other boy. Damn, I denied out of jealousy, but what if she shares a room with him? And it's not like I can actually share room with her . What will other think about her.
They are students, they are provided rooms on another floor. Me and my other colleagues are provided rooms on the same floor as the students, but senior doctors like mom are provided rooms on another floor.
I don't even know what Ayushi is thinking.
I don't even understand what she is doing here. She lacks focus in class, so it is perplexing how she managed to pass her test with a good grade. Otherwise, she would not be here. Apart from the student from last year, the other students are simply here to relax or observe what others are doing. They have no purpose here.
Like i have never been in her situation. You can either serve a cold drink to the doctor or spend time leisurely with your friends.
The administration should not be organizing these programs with juniors. I feel envious seeing her with that boy, and I will not allow her to share a room with them.
I approached her and stood behind her.
"Have you ever considered what would happen if a deadly virus spread and turned everyone into zombies, leaving our group trapped?"
What does she think about all day? Is she truly a medical student, or is she just joking around?
"Ms. Ayushi, how about you stop watching movies?"
She turned around, her eyes initially happy but soon replaced by a sour mood.
"Yeah, whatever. Not everyone can be as boring as you," she said while chewing gum.
"Sir, we are going to take our bags to our room. Good evening," both the girl and the boy who were standing with her left. What a friend leaving their friend in trouble. she still hugged that boy who is ready to leave herin trouble.
"Since you chose to disrespect me, Ms. Ayushi, as a punishment, you will assist me tomorrow," I said, maintaining a neutral tone. She nodded her head and quietly said, "Yes, sir."
"Now go to your room," I muttered. She reluctantly nodded and grabbed her bag.
I will not allow her to spend time with that boy, especially when I am present.
"Rihaan, you were assigned a shared room, but knowing your aversion to sharing with others, I booked a room for you on my own," Mom said. I nodded in acknowledgement.
"I heard Ayushi is staying alone. Her father once mentioned that she cannot sleep alone. Ayaan tried to give Aryan and Ayushi separate rooms, but when he woke up, he found them together in the same room. I hope she will be able to sleep well alone," Mom said, her tone tinged with worry. But why is she worried for her.
And wait how will Ayushi sleep alone if she can't sleep Without anyone's presence in the room.
