It was the month of January, just the second day after the first day of returning to school. I did listen to what Houston and Ruth told me about what they were doing in the residential facility. Then they told me about the stranger called the Mist Wanderer. I thought that was a strange name to be calling somebody. Then I tried to remember why I was sent to the residential facility. The scary nightmare I had that forced my mother to send me there had vanished from my mind. I tried to remember what that nightmare was. Though it was no good. The thick mist today had covered a foot above the lawn. "This looks like a spooky day." Ruth commented. "I just hope that the mist will clear up today." Dad voiced his worry. "You never know with the weather dear. I just find it to be the most mist-terious." Mom joked. I couldn't help but laugh at that joke. Then I got my backpack ready. I waited for my parents and siblings before I go outside today. Moving through this fog seemed like walking through deep snow.
At least in the Southeast Territory, the snow is not so bad here. It should only cover up the entire yard and anywhere else you would find grass. The roads shouldn't be a big problem. Since the roads seemed to be pretty dry at the moment. I managed to get inside the car and sit at my usual seat. The same could be said with Houston and Ruth. They both sat their regular spots in Dad's car today. Mom sat in the passenger seat. While Dad was ready to drive. He slowly moved the car out onto the road. The thick mist began to raise itself to cover three feet off the ground. "Wow! This is becoming serious. Maybe they should invent someway so that we could know if there are any oncoming cars coming from any direction when its extremely misty like this." Dad remarked. Nobody talked about anything until Dad got the car out onto the road. He drove slowly down the street. The mist was very hard to see through. I was hoping that we don't end up in an accident. For a time, Dad drove until we arrived at a familiar intersection. At this intersection, there was a crossing guard. The crossing guard was holding a red stop sign that had some red flashing lights that were mounted on it. The mist became a bit thinner when we saw the crossing guard. Whoever it was, held the stop sign up with a firm grip. It must have been somebody that my family has seen for many years ever since I was born. Then I was shocked at what happened next, I blinked, and for some reason, the crossing guard wasn't there anymore. It looked like the crosswalk was clear. There were still some kids that were crossing it. I shook my head and closed my eyes. I think I must be sleeping again. When I opened them again, it turns out that the crossing guard was there again.
She continued to help kids cross the street. I think a few parents were there with them. Once the last of the kids were across the road, the crossing guard went back to the yellow and green hut that was nearby. Houston and Ruth were dropped off here. Then the parents drove around to make sure that I was at school on time. I think we arrived there just a few minutes late. "Have a great day son." Dad opined. I smiled back at him. The cold weather didn't seem to be bothering me. I entered the school and made to the receptionist's desk. The time on the clock meant that I was a few minutes early. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I walked down the hallway to my locker. The school bell rang. That's when I opened my locker. That's when I found a piece of paper in my locker. It turns out that there was a message written on the piece of paper. After I put my stuff away, I took out the paper. I read the small message that was written on it. "Beware of pretenders. They may look like regular people. But they are made by the power that was used to create this land." The message stated. I didn't know what to make of it. I took everything I need to be studying in class and got into the classroom. The teacher was there along with the regular classmates. Nigel was staring at the board at the front. Mr. Burgos had came into class just five minutes late. He explained how bad the mist was. That's when I looked back at the teacher Mrs. Murai. She was standing and gazing at the students. After the national anthem was played, Mrs. Murai started to teach. I tried to think of the subject that the teacher was teaching us. For a second, it looked like that the teacher was working, then I blinked. I don't know why that happened. The minute I blinked, something strange happened. I could hear Mrs. Murai's voice, but she didn't seem to be anywhere. Then I looked over to my EA teacher. He had a giant fly's head instead of his normal head. There was a number nine that was glowing on his forehead with greyish light. Then I looked over to the other students. I noticed that Nigel has become different. He didn't have a human like head. He had a head that was made out of mist. There was also a number nine that was glowing on his forehead. It was glowing with a greyish color. Cassie was also different. She did have a glowing grey number nine on her forehead. Though it seemed that her face has changed.
