I was waking up after that scary evening. What would the message mean on that piece of paper? I don't know yet. I also thought about the mask. I never had to experience anything scary before. I don't know if I would see the mask again at school. I was also beginning to wonder if the school had anymore nasty surprises waiting for me. I got up at the exact time that I would normally wake up so that I can get to school. Then I walked over to the kitchen. My parents and siblings were waiting for me. I had some cheerios cereal for breakfast. "How are you doing Fred?" Ruth asked. "I'm doing well. I just had the weirdest dream." I answered. Houston stared at me with interest. "What was the weird dream about?" My little brother questioned. "I was dreaming about this mask that changed all the time. It kept telling me that I should just enjoy Southeast Territory." I lied. I knew that our family doesn't have any secrets to hide from anyone. I wasn't sure about what that creepy mask was trying to tell me.
"That's scary." Houston remarked. "Enough about this mask. This weekend coming up. I am sending you along with your siblings to Camp Dexter. This camp will have the three of you do some very fun stuff." Mom elucidated. Then there was a roar. I knew I have heard a roar once before. I think that it was from a video on a bear roaring from inside her den. Since a bunch of scientists were trying to study her den from a distance. This didn't sound like a bear though. It sounded more like a lion's roar. I didn't think a lion would be over here. Unless if it is from a zoo or from the wilds of Africa somewhere. "That doesn't sound good. I'll take a look." Dad informed us with a calm yet casual tone of voice. "Please don't come in the house. Please don't come in the house." I told myself in my mind several times over. Houston thought that it would be cool just to see a lion living inside our house. Ruth felt just as nervous as I was. She didn't want to know what would be happening to her stuff if a wild animal come into her room. Dad was looking out from the kitchen window. I was hoping that the only thing he would tell us would be just good news. He tried to spot anything out from the window. The only thing he can see is thick mist. It covered the entire street. Dad wasn't sure if he could see anything on the street. Then there was the sound of another roar. This time, it came from the roof. At once I panicked. I thought that the lion was going to break into our house by making a hole in the roof. Dad turned to look at us. "Just eat your breakfast. I'm sure that it could just be our imaginations getting the best of us." Dad assured us. I wasn't so sure about that. After we finished our breakfasts, some of us took turns preparing our lunches and cleaning ourselves up in the bathroom. I checked to see if I had everything.
Then we left the house. Dad was the first person to leave the house that day. The mist has cleared up by not much. We could only see the front of the house and the small driveway. We couldn't see much of the street. Mom locked the door to our house. The sound of a lion's roar could be heard again. I looked up at the roof. The only thing I could see is more mist. I just don't get how could we have a lion out here. Then we all sat down at our normal sitting places in the car. When the car doors were closed and locked on Dad's black Cadillac sedan, Dad turned to look behind him. He drove the black sedan carefully out of the driveway. That's when Ruth screamed. I jumped and stared at her. She was staring at something from the rear window. It turned out to be a big snake head. This snake had yellow green and regular green colored scales. The reptile hissed while it stared at us. The mist covered the world around us while the big head hissed and scared us. Houston didn't get to see why was Ruth so scared. Dad had the car put into park. The giant snake head still scared us for a short while. Then the creature retreated into the mist. The mist somewhat dissipated so that a part of the street could be shown. Dad carefully looked down both ends of the street before backing out into it. The sedan backed out until the front end would be aimed towards the way we would usually take to get to school. The car slowly moved along the street. Dad was making sure he didn't hit anybody. The car rolled along. I was hoping that I would be able to get to school on time. Though I wasn't counting on it. Just then, there was the sound of a lion roaring. That's when something strange happened. I closed my eyes, even though I didn't feel tired enough to do so. I found myself standing in the same white colored walls of a hospital hallway. I could hear the sound of a lady crying in pain. The sound came from one of the hospital rooms. It was the same hospital room that I remember from my previous nightmares. This wooden door had the number 36 on it on a metal plate. I couldn't understand how I still dream about this place. Then there was the sound of a baby crying. It was coming from the room where the lady was crying in pain. My arms and hands were trembling. Part of me wants to know what's going on inside that room. My other part wants to make sure that I stay safe, or I don't get scared by whoever was in that room.
