7| Beauty?

Yet in the hazy ever flowing mist, a figure laughed, "I told you he's a faggot."

It wasn't long before the new day began.

Elliot jolted up, panting and drenched in a cold sweat. With each breath, the cold air filled his lungs, biting his insides.

Looking around, he was met with his familiar room.

He sighed in relief.

Soon, the small golden streaks of sunlight snuck in. Hitting the wall, unfurling, and lighting up the room — they always managed to evade his rundown window.

Unable to sleep, he sat and watched as daybreak's rays infiltrated his room.

A bit later, he rose from his bed and was once again greeted by the cold air, enveloping his feet as he walked across the cold wooden floor.

He finished his morning routine and his phone read 7:02.

The silence of the house he had made his own was both reassuring and bare.

After, he opened the kitchen window, letting the new morning air in.

Simultaneously, a small creak sounded from the hallway.

"Liam?" Elliot asked.

Liam didn't reply. Instead, he slowly walked over to the kitchen counter and sat.

"You should go back to sleep," Elliot suggested.

"No," Liam rubbed his left eye.

Elliot sighed.

"Do you want breakfast then?"

"Yes."

"Alright."

He plugged in the toaster and put in five pieces of bread.

Afterward, he stood on his tippy toes and opened the cabinets, grabbing jam and jelly.

It wasn't long before the fresh smell of toast spread around.

"What do you want? Jam or Jelly?" Elliot asked.

"Jam."

He handed the jam to Liam and then laughed.

"Why are you laughing?"

"I just remembered when you didn't know how to spread jam so you used your fingers instead."

   Liam pouted, "I was five."

"Sorry," Elliot ruffled Liam's hair. "You're so much bigger now."

Liam grinned, "It's because I drank milk."
