By the end of it all, he was back in English, with Azure mysteriously absent. Regardless, he found himself surprisingly calm, as the students around him murmured about what had happened during lunch.

When class ended, he promptly headed over to Timeless to start his shift.

The wind had begun to pick up as it cut at his face. Meanwhile the clouds were increasingly turning gray.

As he turned on the brewer, his phone blew up with texts.

It seemed that Emilia and Chris had heard about what happened during lunch, as they blew up their group chat.

He looked at his phone.

Then he opened it, typing "I'm fine," several times.

Then he added an inordinate amount of "really"s before he turned his phone off.

They were overreacting, it wasn't uncommon for some people to get checked into mental institutions following exam results, it was simply because he had been first for so long.

A little later, he heard thumping against his window.

Its raining. Elliot glanced out the window. It doesn't normally rain in October.

The rain's soft rhythm was comforting, but he could never love the rain.

He walked to the storefront and stared out into the overcast gray sky.

28th place.

Azure's annoying face flashed. 'Then we have a deal.'

What was I thinking?

He chuckled.

Even if Azure asked me right now, I'd still accept.

I need to do this.

The more important question is — what's Azure thinking? He rested his head on his arms as he looked out the windowsill.

At least the rain is beautiful...

But he didn't have time to think about it though as Azure strut in the front door.

"...Uhh, what do you think you're doing?" Elliot raised an eyebrow.

"Uhh, meet you?" Azure chuckled.

"Why?" Elliot narrowed his eyes.

"Because it's Friday."

Oh shit I forgot.

"But it's not nine yet," Elliot quickly replied.

"So? I figured I'd jump the gun on this partnership."

Elliot clicked his tongue and rolled his eyes, "Well I'm kind of busy."

"I don't see any customers?"
