Wednesday kept a close eye on Kali over the next few days. She wanted to see if Kali was experiencing any changes, but she seemed exactly the same. The only difference being she was no longer coughing up blood. But if changing Kali's DNA doesn't actively do anything to her, then why would the organization bother doing it at all? Wednesday was still missing too many pieces of the puzzle to know.
At least Kali seemed to be doing better mentally. It probably helped that Enid was practically clinging onto her at all times. So even when Kali did struggle with whatever Rhea was saying and started to think maybe they're not real again, Enid was right there to help her and remind her of reality. Plus, Kali seemed to enjoy Enid's constant hugging, so it was a win-win situation.
Now it was Thursday afternoon, and Enid and Kali were watching a movie with earbuds while Wednesday worked on her novel. Enid had decided to try to culture Kali, though it was a little difficult since she had to keep in mind all of her triggers. Right now they were watching The Breakfast Club, but then they were interrupted by a knock on the door.
Enid got up to answer it and her eyes widened. "Principal Weems, what brings you here?"
"Miss Tanaka told me I would find Kali here."
At the sound of her name, Kali stood up and joined them at the door. "I'm here."
Weems smiled. "If you'll come with me, I was able to set up a therapy appointment for you. His name is Timothy Nelson and he's been quite good for the other students here. I'm sure he'll be able to help you some as well."
"Okay." She glanced at Enid. She didn't want to leave her side. "Can Enid come?"
Enid chuckled and rubbed Kali's arm. "Therapy is mostly a one on one thing. But here," she walked back to her bed, "take P.E and PEJ." She grabbed Penguin Enid and Panda Enid Junior and brought them back to Kali. "Then it'll be like I'm there too."
Kali held them against her chest. "Thank you. You'll be here when I come back?"
"Of course." She leaned in and gave her a quick peck on the lips. "Now go get your therapy on."
Kali nodded and then Weems led her away. They went to the shuttle and drove down to Jericho. Kali stared out the window as she clutched onto P.E and PEJ. She would rather be with Enid right now. She's come to realize that Enid (and Wednesday too) makes her feel at home and safe and loved, and so when she's not with Enid (or Wednesday) she feels alone and unsafe. It made her anxious. She didn't understand though. She used to always be alone and unsafe, so why was it hard to handle all of a sudden? And why did she feel that way when she knew she wasn't in that situation? She was just leaving Enid and Wednesday for a bit to do this therapy thing, so why did she feel panic swelling inside of her?
Eventually the car came to a stop and Weems led her into the building. She talked to a receptionist and then they took a seat. A few minutes later, a heavyset man with thinning gray hair walked out into the lobby. He adjusted his glasses and smiled warmly at Weems and Kali.
"Larissa! Nice to see you again. And you must be Kali." He held out his hand and Kali awkwardly shook it. "It's nice to meet you. You can call me Tim."
"I leave her in your capable hands," Larissa smiled. "I'll be back to pick her up in an hour."
"Alrighty, see ya then." Weems nodded and took her leave. Tim turned to Kali and gestured down the hallway he came from. "Shall we?"
Kali clutched P.E and PEJ a little tighter to her chest as she walked down the hallway with Tim guiding her to his office. Inside was a couch pushed against the left wall with an armchair situated across from it. In the back right corner was a desk and a bookshelf. Kali took a seat on the couch and Tim sat down down in the chair. He seemed nice enough, but Kali was still on edge.
