Enid wasn't perfect. She was full of flaws and she knew it. She was a late bloomer when it came to wolfing out, she wasn't as ladylike as her mother wanted her to be, she was absolute garbage at chemistry back in sophomore year, she said the wrong things at the worst possible times, she had a tendency to run away when she was upset, and she still struggled with blood and gore. So no, Enid knew she was as imperfect as they came. All thanks to her mother who wasted no opportunity to tell her about each and every one. For a very long time, Enid felt like she couldn't do anything right. Everything was wrong somehow. Her posture at the family dinner table, how she did the dishes, how she ate, and even how she ran through the forest on full moons. Her mom always had something to say. And it was never anything nice. So yeah, Enid thought she couldn't do anything right.

But then Enid met Kali. Who by all definitions, couldn't do anything right. But not in a bad way. Simply because she didn't know how to actually do things. She couldn't read or write, didn't know how to do simple math, didn't know how to try on clothes, didn't know what music was, and didn't even know the definitions of certain words. Kali couldn't do things right because she didn't know how to do them. But that never seemed to bother her. She did her best to learn and she had made a lot of progress. And Enid did her best to help her and make sure she knew it was okay. And along the way she fell in love. And though Kali used to say that she didn't know why Enid would be with someone like her, Enid used to wonder why Kali would be with someone like Enid. Because Enid knew she wasn't perfect, and she believed she couldn't do anything right.

But Kali was something right. If Enid only did one right thing in her life, it would be loving Kali, being with Kali. Because Enid had never felt more right than she was with her. And so she promised herself to help Kali fight her demons and scare off the monsters that plagued her dreams. She promised to support her in anyway she needed, and to protect her from all those who wanted to hurt her. Because Kali was something right.

So why did something feel so wrong?

The mating bite tied Enid to Kali, and so she knew—no, she could feel Kali dying. Enid tried to sniff out Kali, but thanks to all the blood she couldn't. At least she knew she couldn't be far. She ran through the circular hallway, arms shaking with each stride thanks to the deep burns around her wrists. She burst through the door that led to the hallway with the offices just in time to see Kali get thrown out of one and smack into the wall, sliding down into a sitting position.

Kali's head was hung low and her eyes were barely open as she took slow and ragged breaths. She was bleeding from numerous cuts on her body, and her bone arm had been completely dyed red from the consistent bleeding of what remained of her arm. She could fell her strength leave her body with each small breath that left her lungs.

Enid's big blue wolf eyes watered at the sight. And when Daniel walked out of the office, Enid roared and charged at him. Daniel should've known not to mess with a werewolf's mate because now Enid was feral. All she saw was red as she clawed and tore into Daniel mauling him into pieces, uncaring how many times his bones stabbed into her. She would heal. But she didn't know if Kali would.

Kali.

Her girlfriend.

The one thing she had ever done right.

And yet she hadn't been able to protect her. She had failed once again. So she tore into the man responsible until there was nothing left that resembled a man. And even then, lost in her rage, she didn't stop.

Wednesday, on the other hand, had rushed to Kali's side with tears in her eyes. "You're gonna be okay," she assured as she put pressure on some of her wounds. "You're gonna be okay." She wasn't sure who she was trying to convince.
