"Hi, I'm Gianna, or Gia." I said to be sure that he knew that I was beside him.

Weirdly Mattheo didn't say anything or in fact even acknowledged me. When you think about it though, I already knew his name, everyone did, so he didn't have much to say. But he could at least greet me right?

"Ehm... is it good if I sit here?" I asked to be sure. I didn't want to be rude or make him think I was 'bad'.

No response.

I realized that he probably didn't want to talk. Why, though? Did he think I was in Harry's 'anti-Mattheo group'? Maybe he was thinking that I would eventually insult him too.
With or without an answer I decided to stay. If he didn't want me here he would've said it, or would have punched me.

I listened to the information that was given, which was a lot since we wouldn't be doing any magic this lesson. Being a true Ravenclaw, I took lots of notes. After a good twenty or thirty minutes I couldn't hold my concentration anymore. I looked at Mattheo to see if he was able to do so, and to maybe entertain myself. With what I saw I realized he was listening even less than I was, instead of following the lesson he had been reading the whole time.

"This lesson is so boring." I tried again.

No response.

"Professor Norther should just stop talking." I spoke so that it would be less awkward. Maybe it would even encourage him to talk back.
(Professor Norther doesn't exist in the HP books but since I don't follow the HP-timeline I thought I needed to have a different Professor without any dubble life etc.)

"I know he tries but he doesn't really help me with improving my DADA skills you know?"

No response, as expected this time.

"I saw that you are quite good at DADA already so maybe you don't have any problem with that."

At first I thought he truly wasn't listening, he wasn't looking at me nor was he responding. That was until I noticed that he wasn't turning the page of the book he was reading. Maybe he still wasn't listening, but I convinced myself that he was. This encouraged me to continue the smalltalk. In the end I didn't really say much, but hopefully he would feel more free to talk now. In the worst case he thought that I was annoying, but even that was better than what the other students were.
When the class was over I grabbed all my stuff.

"See you next class, bye." I said to Mattheo.

"Bye." He said to my surprise.

I smiled at him and walked to my next class. I probably held the smile for the whole day.
