The first time I saw Mattheo again was at the DADA test. In the days before I had had lots of other tests. I think they went well, but of course I could never be 100% sure. The DADA test was the one I had been most nervous for, since it wasn't my best subject. All the students had to wait in line in front of the classroom. One by one people went in to do the test. I was looking for Mattheo among all of them, since I hadn't seen him in so long.. When I finally found him standing with other slytherins I sent him a smile, not completely sure whether he saw me or not.  When our eyes met, and I was sure he saw me  I mouthed 'good luck', in which he responded with a nod.
I was standing with Athena, who was also quite nervous.

"Ok so for expelliarmus you have to make this movement right?" Athena asked me for the hundredth time.

Her stress must have been so bad for her to ask me about DADA, I thought as I sighed. "Yes. Please drop it now, you know them all so it'll be fine."

"Yeah but what if I d-" She started again.

"You won't."

"I cannot wait for all the tests to be done."

"Same." I agreed.

We slowly got closer and closer to the entrance of the classroom until we were standing in front of it.

"Can you please go first?" Athena begged.

"Yeah, sure." I just wanted it to be over as soon as possible so I didn't mind.

I was glad that me and the girls made up again. The week without them just didn't feel right. And now with all the stress it was good to have my friends around. Luckily they had decided among the two of them not to bring Mattheo up again, which saved a lot of drama. It was nice to know that they finally accepted my decision, or at least let it go.

The classroom door opened and I walked in. Professor Norther was sitting on his chair, ready to take my exam. At this moment we were basically polar opposites, with me being stressed and anxious, and him seeming calm and almost bored. I tried to calm myself down as best as possible whilst he got out his quill and paper. Unfortunately I failed miserably the second that the professor opened his mouth.

"Name?" He asked.

"Gianna Blackwood." It amazed me how I managed to keep my voice steady. I'd already prepared myself to stutter my way through the exam.

"Good, so as you'd probably expected, I'm going to see how well you do with the spells. There'll be some that you have learned recently and some that you have learned before. Are you ready?"

"Yes."

"Firstly I want you to do expelliarmus."

This one was on the easy side since I had been able to do this for a long time. I did the spell and profession Norther wrote something down on his paper.
I had to repeat  this multiple times with different spells. Dome went good, some went alright, some, unfortunately, went bad.
When I finally  had to do the paralyze-spell I deeply breathed in and out.  I reminded myself of the things Mattheo had done and said to me during the lesson. The memory of his arms around me came to mind, the way that they made me feel safe. However I quickly stopped it, there was no way that I would be daydreaming during an exam. With my focus back on the spell I did as Mattheohad told me to do. To my big surprise, and probably also the professors,  I had done the spell. From A to Z everything went perfect, with as outcome a paralyzed frog.

"Very well, that was it for today! You may leave now. Good luck with your other test."

"Thank you professor, have a good day." I said with finally some confidence.

When I left the room I had to stop myself from cheering. Even though not everything went perfectly, it had still gone a lot  better than normal. I know that Mattheo had only helped me with one spell, but somehow it made a big difference to my overall performance.
After wishing Athena, who was next, good luck I walked to Mattheo. The boy was standing near the end of the line. The students whose houses weren't slytherin stood as far away as possible which created a big gap in the line. Mattheo had his back turned to me when I reached him. He was talking with Blaize and Draco, the talking part was mostly done by the others but he gave short responses.
I awkwardly tapped him on his back, not exactly knowing how to get his attention. Mattheo immediately tensed up and turned around. At first I was met with a harsh glare from the boy, but it quickly changed into curiosity. I still wouldn't call it kind, but it was at least a bit more natural instead of angry.

"Hi, I just wanted to thank you once again. The paralyze-spell went amazing, because of you.  This might be my first DADA test that actually went well, so thank you." I said smiling and truly meaning every word I was saying.

"You're welcome." Mattheo said as he looked away a bit. It was clear that he wasn't feeling very comfortable.

"Good luck with your test! Bye." I quickly ended the conversation, so it wouldn't get worse.

Luckily Athena was in the classroom during the conversation. Otherwise i there would have been a big chance of more drama. I did feel a bit sad about the conversation since Mattheo didn't really seem to enjoy it. That did not mean he didn't like either, right? And why did I almost daydream about him during my exam? He was just someone.
