Next DADA lesson I made sure to sit next to Mattheo again. This time I didn't only get weird looks from Mattheo but also from the other classmates. Some even looked at me with worry, but as long as there was no problem I was going to sit here. I still don't completely understand why I really was so interested in him but I was. My curiosity will probably get me killed one day, but not knowing stuff drives me crazy. In the end I'd rather be dead than crazy.
"Hi." I greeted.
This time I got a response in the form of a nod.
The class got a quick explanation about the spell we were going to learn. When we could finally practice, I noticed it didn't go as well as I'd expected. I could summon a small spark but it was so small that it was barely visible and not useful at all. Mattheo on the other hand managed to do it in one try perfectly and went back to reading. I did the spell over and over until I managed to do it quite well.
"You're really good at this." I complimented Mattheo.
No response again, but that didn't matter. Last lesson I managed to get a word from him, so I would make progress one day.
I continued practicing a bit more before sitting down again. Mattheo seemed dragged into the story he was reading so I decided to leave him alone. To spend the remaining time I doodled a bit in my book. I wasn't a Van Gogh, but I wasn't bad either. If I had an idea, I could recreate it on paper.
By sitting next to Mattheo I got to know a few things about him. For one, he wore quite some jewelry. The one that stood out the most for me was his necklace which had two rings attached hanging on it. I also noticed how well his selfcare was. Mattheo's skin was basically perfect, his curls curled up perfect and looked fluffy and he smelled amazing. The last thing that really stood out were his scars. There was a big one going from his eyebrow to his cheek and if you were close enough you could see smaller ones on his face, neck and hands. I wondered where he got them from, but I didn't want to intrigue by asking, so I kept wondering. But all by all he was probably the most beautiful person I'd ever seen. I would stare at him forever if I could, but I couldn't. So instead I taught myself to look at other things, most of the time.
Eventually the lesson was over so I said my goodbyes, in response I got a nod again.
I don't know whether he trusts me or not, but he certainly doesn't dislike me. Or he really has patience and can control his temper. But after seeing him beating up the boy, I don't think that's the case. I absolutely don't dislike him either. Even though he had only said one word in two encounters, he was calming to sit next to. Wasn't this weird though? Yes. It could be that I was just imagining things and that he would kill me in a few days. But let's just hope that's not the case.Word count: 555 (this isn't something regular but I just thought it was funny since it wasn't on perpose at all)
