Chapter 29

The clock told me it was time to go downstairs for dinner. I saw that Athena and Cho had saved me a spot, but I also saw Mattheo sitting at the slytherin table with Blaize, Draco and other slytherins. Mattheo would probably report me for stalking after this but I had to take my chance. The empty spot beside Mattheo almost screamed for me to come. I gave my friends an apologetic smile and sat down next to Mattheo.

"He-"

"Leave." Mattheo cut me off.

"No thanks. Blaize, could you please pass me the potatoes?"

Blaize looked unsure with Mattheo glaring at him, basically telling him not to. Nevertheless I was given a scale full of potatoes. I put some on my plate.

"You want some too?" I asked Mattheo.

"I want you to leave." He said annoyed with my behavior and presence.

I completely understood him, but he would have to accept it because I wasn't planning on leaving until we would go back to 'normal' again.

"Sorry?" I acted like I didn't hear him.

"Go. Away." He said in a threatening voice. Not looking at me once, in fact he hadn't looked my way since I'd gotten here.

"When I'm done with eating of course."

He let out a deep sigh but didn't say anything anymore. Probably sick of my behaviour. The slytherin boys looked confused but eventually continued their conversations. Since I wasn't here for them and I didn't want to invade their lives I didn't participate, which was a bit awkward. If the plan however would succeed it would be worth it. They probably
felt bad or weirded out because eventually they started talking to me too.

"You're a chaser right?" Blaize asked.

"Yes, are you on the quidditch team?" I asked back.

At first I wondered why Blaize had been so helpful the whole time, but then I remembered our conversation at the ball where we talked about Mattheo and I. He must trust me, if he was helping me out, which was really nice to know. At least someone was on my team.

"No, but Draco is."

"Oh right, as a Seeker."

"Yeah." Draco answered awkwardly.

I felt a bit bad for him because this was really weird and he clearly didn't feel comfortable. We didn't even knew each other that well.

I talked a bit with the boys and the whole time Mattheo had been silent. I did notice he was looking around the whole time, like there was something he was looking for. I had no idea why, but it wouldn't be smart to ask him, so I let it slide.
Eventually I got sick of the small talk and did what I came for in the first place.

"Mattheo, please listen. I'm sor- no actually I meant what I said, but I think you interpreted it wrong. I can assume that you don't like people judging you, and I agree with you on that. But you have to understand that I had to ask you, for my own safety. I really want to trust you and I think I can, but I'll never be able to if I don't ask certain questions. So please, can we move on now." I begged.

He didn't say anything, which made me nervous. I had no idea what else I could do if this didn't work.

"Please?"

Silence.

"Mattheo?"

I felt my eyes tearing up, but I wasn't going to let the tears fall. No matter how sad or embarrassing the one sided conversation was. When the silence got too long I assumed I had gotten my answer. I cleared my throat before speaking, making sure I sounded as normal as possible.

"Ok, I'll leave you alone. Have a nice meal. Ehm.. bye guys." I said the last thing to the slytherin boys since they had been surprisingly kind.

When I walked away I was just able to hear Blaize.

"What the fuck! Why did you ignore her?"

I smiled at Blaize, his kind gesture. I could imagine him being a really good friend, luckily Mattheo had him. He probably didn't even need me. Maybe he was just glad I was finally gone. In the end he never asked for me. I just thought that the conversation we had in the middle of the night changed things.

I wiped my eyes, feeling stupid they even watered in the first place. Maybe I'm just really weird but I kinda felt something between me and Mattheo. Or maybe I'm just too desperate for male attention.

Another chapter!!! I don't know if it's that good. Tbh I need to get back into the story and the vibe of it but I just couldn't not post. I will post more though.
Also I want to edit the previous chapters and make them a bit longer because in this pace I'll have 3000 chapters. This story probably will be a long one so I also want to make the chapters a bit longer.
