Chapter 23

"What are we trying to do?"

Mirae asked her best friend as the two were walking around the hotel they were currently staying in till they found a new home.

"We are trying to look fit, walking is an important exercise that every human must do"

Seokyung said as she continued to walk as fast as she could.

"We've been doing this for 2 hours don't you think its too much"

Mirae complained completely out of breath.

"Why are you being a quitter? Don't you know quitting is for losers? Are you a..."

Seokyung was interrupted by Mirae's phone ringing.

"As they say in American movie, saved by the bell"

Seokyung said turning and walking away leaving Mirae to shake her head in disappointment and amusement before picking up the call.

"MIrae would you come over to the hospital, someone has to ask you for a favour"

Mirae heard Logan's voice on the other end.

"I'll be there as soon as I can"

Mirae said before ending the call. Even though the girl had a billion questions from Logan's voice she knew now wasn't the right time to answer them. After telling Seokyung she was leaving and having to hear that she was a quitter and a loser again, Mirae finally left for the hospital.

"Oh my Dr. Ha? Are you fine? Are you allowed to leave the hospital like this?"

Mirae ran towards Logan and Dr.. Ha confused as to why Dr. Ha was standing in front of her all ready when he should be lying in the hospital till he got better.

"Ah Mirae you're here."

Dr. Ha said smiling at the girl. Even though Mirae knew he was smiling at her something still felt odd it was like he wasn't smiling at her but at something that wasn't there.

"Is everything alright?"

Mirae asked Logan more than Dr. Ha. Logan looked at her not replying her.

"Logan can I talk to Mirae now?"

Dr. Ha asked the man who told him he's leaving before leaving the area. Mirae looked at Dr. Ha still confused and worried.

"I've already talked to Logan about it but I wanted to talk to you about something as well"

Dr. Ha started saying grasping Mirae's attention

"You probably already know I'm Rona's biological father and if you know this then you might think that I'm an awful father as well. So I just wanted to make sure of one last thing. Oh Yoon Hee used to tell me if there was one person Rona trusted it was you, Kim Mirae please be there with Rona whenever she needs someone, it's almost like everyone has left her. Please never let her feel alone and always remind her that you're there for her. Could you do that for me?"

Dr. Ha asked Mirae silent tears running down his cheeks.

"Dr. Ha you'll be there for her as well..."

Mirae started but was interrupted by him.

"You never know what happens I just want you to promise me this that you'll stay by her side no matter what"

Dr. Ha said expecting Mirae to agree. Mirae at that time had no idea why he was saying this but something in her told her to promise. It wasn't like it was an empty promise, Mirae at the time genuinely promised herself that she would remain next to Rona for as long as she can.
