"How are you this evening Ms. Grant or should I say Mrs. McMillian" Ali's mom said while smiling.

"Wait how did you know I got married?" lexy asked as she took a seat on the hard leather couch across from her. "Ohhh it was Ali who told you, huh?" Lexy figured.

She nodded her head yes but didn't verbally confirm.

-

"Im gonna to get him the next time that I see him for not keeping his big mouth shut" lexy thought.

-

"Well you can just call me Ms. Grant. Me and my husband divorced a few months ago"

"wow... I didn't expect you to say that. Why so quickly? " her therapist asked.

"Well.. we just didn't work out. Nothing ever really works out for me.."

"Now alexis, don't say that! Many good things have worked out for you"

"No they haven't. I haven't even had a successful relationship yet!"

"and that's okay. You created and ran a successful business, you got your esthetician license and you're a good mom to two beautiful kids"

"im not that good of a mom... I gave my rights up to my sons father" she mumbled.

" and I'm sure you did that for a good reason"

"I did.. but some people wont understand that and once they find out, they're going to come for me especially on social media"

"So what? Let them come for you! You did this to benefit your son, correct?"

"Yes... I knew my son would be fine with his father. If I didn't think so, I would have never permanently signed my rights away to him. Truth is... I was just tired of fighting with his father and since he wanted him so bad and thought he could be a better parent than I could, I gave him what he wanted"

"I understand. I really do understand Alexis... and maybe I shouldn't be telling you this as your therapist, but I went through the same thing with Ali's father"

"Really?" lexy questioned.

"Yes! I had to fight for custody because his father wanted to take him from me"

"and you won right?"

"Yes but it was hard. I had to leave him with his grandma while I went to work in the mornings and didn't come home until late at night, so I know first hand what you are going through. I also wasn't much older than you when I had him"

"Being a mom is definitely a hard job... especially when everyone is expecting you to fail"

His mom nodded and wrote a few notes in her notebook. "So how are the kids doing, and your work life and your personal life going?"
