A soft chuckle escaped me as I read the note attached to my lunch.
"I'm sorry for raising my voice, but it was deserved. Next time listen when mi talk cause I only have your best interest at heart."
I immediately recognized the intention and knew it was from Raheem. Since the day of our heated exchange, we had managed to maintain a strained silence whenever we saw each other. I had gotten my car back yesterday, allowing me to return the rental and regain my independence in terms of transportation. After tucking the note into the top drawer of my desk, I turned my attention to the containers of food. The security guard at the front entrance had brought them to me, explaining that a well-built man had delivered the meal and specifically requested it to be sent to me.
The portions of food were quite large, certainly more than I could finish on my own. As I unpacked the containers, I discovered a nice variety. The first box held a mini seafood boil, featuring corn, king crab legs, potatoes, and shrimp. The following one contained a combination of a burger, chicken tenders, and crispy fries. Then there was a selection of assorted fruits, and the last container turned out to be a cake box from one of my favorite bakeries. It was evident that Raheem was putting in considerable effort as all the cakes were my favorite flavors. Any money seh a Ricardo tell him.
