"Wish mi could a come wid yuh to be honest," Anna said as she helped me fold clothes.
I was currently packing my suitcases to take with me. We were moving all my furniture and things into my Bay Front apartment until they can be sold as my apartment is already fully furnished. Ricardo would be in charge of leasing my house until I get back and I cancelled the purchase of the new apartment I was going to move into.
"Wish yuh could a come wid mi too," I pouted as I folded the jeans.
I was heading to Clarendon tomorrow afternoon to stay my father's family in Canaan Heights. It's the only familiar place I could think of last minute and it was convenient that my dad's memorial was soon and I haven't been to it in a while so I know my granny will be be very happy to see me. She actually doesn't know that I'm coming and I've been planning my visit with one of my aunts as a surprise to the whole family.
Unlike my mom's family, my dad's family is very large and very close knitted. I had 5 aunts and 6 uncles and as you can imagine a whole lot of cousins. I use to visit when I was younger with my dad but it stopped after he passed away and my mom never brought me to May Pen because she and my granny could never get along so I grew up not accustom to them. It wasn't until I turned 21 when I decided to search for them and found some of my cousin's on Instagram and I started going to his memorial which they held every year since his death but as you know I couldn't go. I went three years back to back then kinda stopped going. I really don't know why I stopped. I guess I just felt so awkward in the presence of people I didn't really know well.
"Maybe mi sneak weh and come look yuh and mi niece when mi ready," Anna replied bringing me back to reality.
I chuckled, "Cardo would a bruk yuh neck if yuh mash up him plans."
"Oh please all him can do a run off him mouth."
"When last yuh talk to Nikki?" I asked as my mind ran on my other friend.
"In a week yah she call mi and wi did a text last night... Why?" She asked as she went to pick up Angel to play with her.
"Ohh... Nothing. Mi see she a post up but shi nuh really text mi more than suh... Did think a cause she a get use to foreign mek shi nuh really a text back but a guess not," I shrugged. I'm not surprised, to be honest she was more Anna's friend than mine, we just got closer over the years due to the fact that we shared a friend and we got along well but it's not like she and I hung out much without Anna. I would still consider a friend though as it's been five years. She was Anna's friend from college while Anna and I have been friends since first year of high school.
Anna looked at me funny for a second before picking up her phone. A few seconds later I heard the running tone on her phone on speaker and I looked at her confused.
