The next day Jingyi found herself running through the city.

"Oh Archons! I am so late!"

Eventually she got to the agreed location, but she felt half dead already.

"I'm...sorry...I'm.....late!" She managed between gasps.

Childe looked at the flustered and out of breath girl and couldn't help but smirk. A bit surprised she was taking it as seriously as she was. Regardless though, he couldn't help but want to tease her.

"And here I thought you had forgotten all about me," he said, sounding as hurt as he could.

Jingyi rolled her eyes, "Maybe I should have ghosted you, I know if I did I'd be able to still be catching some sleep right now."

He smirked, "Don't be like that, friend!"

Her face stiffened before she straightened herself, "I'm not your friend, let's get this over with," she said while getting into her fighting stance.

A shiver went up Childe's spine, of course it wasn't fear but excitement as he was getting ready to enter his stance. The two stared at each other, motionless, eyes meeting each other like they were the only ones in the world. Suddenly, it was Jingyi who made the first move, a ball of fire exploded where Childe was mere seconds ago. It didn't take long for Jingyi to locate him again, plunging towards her, hydro weapons drawn.

"You're fast," he said in a way that almost sounded like he was laughing, "but not fast enough!"

Jingyi dodged and left a fiery explosion in her wake, which Childe dodged again. Taking the initiative Jingyi thought the best course of action was not to give him a chance to attack so she pelted him with hits one after another. But the hits never met with anything since he was quicker. Childe lept and was homing into Jingyi, blood pumping; she decides that it's now or never to unleash her ult. An explosion five times larger than her base attack was formed. But when the fire cleared she could tell that his weapon was on her neck, blunt side facing her of course.

"Looks like I win," he said, a smile evident by his voice.

Jingyi had both her hands up as a sign of defeat.

"Alright, alright, no need to rub it in," she half laughed.

Before Childe could reply at all there was a yell from a high pitched voice.

"Hey! What do you think you're doing to our friend?!" Of course, it was Paimon.

Jingyi's eyes widened, "Paimon?"

"Get away from her," Lumine said shortly after, readying her blade.

Now it was Childe's turn to have his hands up in a sign of submission, "whoa whoa whoa girls, there's a misunderstanding here."

Lumine, sword still drawn, looks over to Jingyi, "What's going on Jingyi?"

Without thinking too much Jingyi pushed herself away from Childe not realizing the action gave him a weird tingle in his heart.

"Y-yeah! We were just doing a quick spar. It's so good to see you again, Lumine and Paimon! How are you guys?! Did you guys eat yet? Please, let me treat you guys to lunch!"

Childe's eyes widened, Jingyi was a completely different person to Lumine! He was in almost disbelief, from what he remembers Jingyi didn't even start talking to Lumine until a couple of days ago!

Paimon responded to Jinyi, "Well you know we can never turn down a free lunch!"

Lumine laughed a little, "Paimon, you'd follow anyone suspicious or not if they offered you food."

"Hey! That's rude of you to say!" Paimon puffed her cheeks.

Jingyi giggled at the two's antics causing Childe's heart to flutter unknowingly.

"H-hey, if it's okay would you mind if I joined you guys?" Childe asked.

As Jingyi was about to reject the idea, but Lumine had something she wanted to say.

"I don't mind, if that's okay with you Jingyi?"

Jingyi was slightly surprised with Lumine's agreement but didn't think too much of it.
