Monday came faster than Denver had hoped, she was up at the crack of dawn shuffling around her bedroom getting ready to go to her boutique. She looked over at Semaj's sleeping form and rolled her eyes. He had snuck in the bed with her in the middle of the night after she had fallen asleep. What made her even more upset was the fact that she slept even better last night, and she knew he was the cause of it. When you share a bed with someone for so long, it really makes a difference in how you sleep at night.
Dropping her jewelry box on the floor, she cursed as he stirred in his sleep. Slowly Semaj's eyes opened as they adjusted to the brightness of the lights. He smiled at his woman as she moved around the room avoiding his gaze, he had planned out his timing perfectly last night. When he came home, she was already in bed. That gave him enough time to eat, shower in the guest room and watch an episode of Power before sneaking up to master bedroom. He really did think that Denver was going to jump up out her sleep and whoop his ass, but he was shocked when she snuggled up to him and fell back into a deep slumber. For some dumb ass reason he took that as an acceptance of his apology, which was why he wore the goofy ass grin on his face this morning.
"What are you doing in here Semaj" She asked as she finally decide to address the elephant in the room. "I asked if you could either sleep in the guest room or on the couch, I'm not sure how I feel about you invading my space" She frowned.
Semaj took a minute to look over her beautiful face before he even began speaking. Looking at what was in front of him, he was honestly so sure he was ready to marry her... but if that was true, what was the nagging feeling he got every time he thought about it? When he apologized to Denver, he really had meant that he was sorry. He wasn't sure if he was sorry for saying it aloud, allowing it to come out of his mouth or just sorry for thinking of it altogether. Either way, he wouldn't let something like that come between them, he refused. In his eyes, Denver was his and he just couldn't stand the thought of another man even laying eyes on his woman. He knew she was hurt, which was why he planned to do whatever it took to make it up to her and get back into her good graces.
"I thought we could maybe go for breakfast this morning" He said avoiding the question she asked and the ones soon to come after.
"I'm going to work" She walked into their bathroom, and stood in the mirror fixing her braids into the style she wanted today.
"Babe come on, you know it's not a big deal for you to come in late. I just wanna take you on a date, we haven't been on one in a while"
"You're so right Semaj, you wanna tell me why we haven't been on a date?" Denver was always up for dates and date nights with her fiancé, but lately work always seemed to come first. In the beginning, she understood, he was in a great place with his career and they were trying to expand their company. Now? That understanding had slowly faded away.
"Dee, I told you its been super busy. Things are on the up for us" That wasn't a lie. He and Javon were really doing some good shit with their company, them expanding and branching out would only make their pockets fatter. That was Semaj's problem though, he thought money solved everything, he was a man who didn't mind throwing money around. It wasn't until he met Denver that he realized that shit didn't work with her, hell she came with her own money. He was used to women that brought nothing to the table but themselves, Denver brought her own chair, plates and utensils.
"Good for you guys, I've opened three stores on my own. Yeah I may have help from my managers, but the bulk of the work load is on me. Yet somehow I still make time to spend with my fiancé! I even cook for you when I get home after a long day, when thats the last damn thing on my mind. But okay, continue to believe your own lies, I'm so over your shit" Placing the last pin in her bun, she walked past him out of the bathroom. She grabbed her bag up from the bench that was at the foot of their bed and headed for the door.
