Raven laid across her bed, while she listen to Marco on the other end of the line. They had become somewhat cordial with one another for the baby's sake. She figured it would be one less thing for her to stress over, the last thing she wanted to do was cause harm to her or her baby.
Marco had called her to ask if it was okay if he shared the news with his mom and also if he could attend the next appointment. He was really excited to become a dad and it showed. He and Raven had necessarily been trying, but they also weren't being safe. They were always taking a gamble with life, she just hated this was the way she would be entering motherhood.
"I know we talked about boundaries, I really wanna be there. Only if you cool with it" He had demons to battle on his own, but there was now a child in the mix, her decisions weren't just her own now.
"Yeah, you just make sure your mom knows her place" Even after all these years, Raven and Marco's mother never got along. She was one of those mothers who always wanted to insert herself in her child's relationship. Sometimes she acted like she was fucking Marco and she hated that.
"I can promise you that much"
Scoffing she responded "yeah you promised me a lot of shit, so I won't believe that until I see it"
She was being cordial with him, but she wouldn't be stupid too. Marco was a mama's boy and he always found a way to take his mother's side. She dealt with it for long enough, but now she was done. Marco was her baby, but this baby growing in her belly was her baby and when it came to her baby she wasn't taking any bullshit.
"I respect that, so when do you find out the gender?"
"Today actually, well I hope so. I'm waiting on the email" She wasn't in a gender reveal type of mood even though everyone wanted her to have one. Waiting wasn't her area of expertise, she wanted to know as soon as possible.
"Shoot me a text please, I won't hold you up. And thank you again" He had been thanking her ever since they had their first conversation after she destroyed the house. She didn't know if he was thanking her for allowing him into her child's life or for not telling the entire world about his hidden secrecies. He wanted to be undercover that was his business, but she was minding her and her child's business moving forward.
She ended the call, and was about to call Denver until someone knocked on her door. Telling them to come in, the door opened to reveal her dad. He was dress in a nice pair of jeans and a black Balmain t-shirt, on his feet were his favorite pair of Yeezy sneakers. Raven liked when her dad dressed down, he was a man who could do both but she enjoyed seeing her old man looking relaxed.
"Hey" He said as he stepped inside her room.
"Hey daddy, where you going?" She sat up slowly. The baby had her feeling sick still so she wasn't doing anything to make it worse. One wrong move and she would spend her day over a toilet
"Me and you are going to eat. Get up baby girl" He wanted to get her mind off of her drama for a while, and he wanted to spend some one on one time with her.
"Ugh do I have to?" She pouted. She had definitely gotten lazy, the only thing she wanted to do was work, eat, and lay down.
"Yes. Get your ass up, and hurry up too I'm hungry"
After pouting for a while, she got herself up and pulled out some clothes to put on. She had showered and brushed her teeth a couple hours ago so all she had to do was spruce herself up. She pulled on some comfy black tights and a red California sweatshirt. She was thankful that the straight back braids she had done two weeks ago still looked good, all she had to do was fix her edges. She placed some simple studs in her ear and put some gloss on her lips, she slid her feet into her Birkenstocks before turning off her light and leaving out the room.
