Chapter 16

"Reese I keep telling you now is not a good time to be taking impromptu trips" Shaun was currently on FaceTime with Reese trying to convince him to drop the topic altogether. The long distance was taking Reese through the motions and he hated to feel that way. He missed his man and he figured it wouldn't hurt for him to finally come to Florida for a visit like he'd promised years ago. Their on and off relationship was Shaun's excuse for not having visited over the years, but now that they were back on exclusively Reese wasn't letting it go.

"So I can take off from work and come see you whenever you want, but I dont get the same in return??" Reese was a trauma nurse, and a damn good one. 

"You can do that, you can put in your time from work and dont have to worry about what's going on while you're gone" And that was true, Shaun was his own boss, but being your own boss always came with its demands.

Rolling his eyes as hard as he could Reese responded "and what the fuck is the point of owning your own shit when you cant do what you want when you want?"

Reese had been in love with Shaun for years, but now that they were in a committed relationship  he was starting to feel like a secret. He hadn't met any of Shaun's family, and Shaun had shown no interest in meeting his. He was ready to finally love his man in private and out loud, he was tired of feeling like a dirty secret. Reese has been out the closet for years now and he would be damned if he allowed someone to push him back in, not even the love of his life.

"Where all this coming from?" Shaun asked 

"Where is it-" Reese laughed "you know what? I'm about to eat my food and enjoy my break I'll talk to you later" Before Shaun could even respond, Reese ended the call.

Shaun sighed loudly as he ran his hand down his face. He knew Reese was pissed but he just couldn't take the time off right now. He was in the middle of a huge business deal and he wanted things to go smoothly without incident. He couldn't be sure of that hundreds of miles away.

He shook his head as he pressed the call icon next to Reese's name. It rung two times before Reese sent him to voicemail, but Shaun put his pride to the side and called him again.

"What" He picked up in a monotone voice

"I'm sorry, ima make it up to you iight? Just give me a lil time to finish this deal babe"

"How much time is a little time? You say this shit all the time and never make good on your promises. This is the shit that had us in the place we were in before. If you not ready for a relationship just tell me that, I can go share my vulnerability elsewhere"

That lit a fire in Shaun, he was a very jealous man and just thinking about Reese with someone else had him ready to take it there... again. Shaun had a nasty track record when it came to his temperature, he'd even "took it there" too far once before.

Shaun had caught Reese and another man in the parking lot of his favorite bar. Reese had done it to make him jealous, but what he didn't know was that Shaun had a dark side, a very very dark side. Reese had made sure that Shaun seen him flirting with the guy he'd brought along with him. He knew Shaun would be there because that's where he liked to hang out with his friends.

Reese had come into town that week hoping to get some quality time with Shaun only to get turned down. He wasn't going to lie, it hurt like hell but it only fire up the pettiness inside of him. Reese got all dressed up and hit up one of his old flings that happened to move to Atlanta from Florida. He was a good lay and easy as hell on the eyes, but he also the perfect man to make Shaun jealous. Reese wanted him jealous enough for him to fuck his brains out.

Reese and Victor weren't inside the bar for more than thirty minutes when Shaun laid eyes on them. He and his friends were still out enjoying their night, but he wanted it to end right then and there once his sights were on Reese. He watched as his lover laughed a little too hard and got extra close to the guy sitting next to him. Seeing the two of them become overly handsy was enough to make Shaun want to kill them both. Reese smirked at Shaun as he whispered into Victor's ear. Reese's companion was oblivious to his games, all he wanted was to dip his dick into Reese one more time.
