It had been days since Denver sat in her office with Raven as she cried her eyes out. She felt for her friend, but for three days the word pregnant had been replaying in her head like a broken record. She found herself being jealous that Raven was about to experience the joy of motherhood, a very shitty way to start it off but still.

Denver hadn't thought about being a mom since back when she was with Jace. Living in a fairytale back then, she could see herself having four or five of his kids. If anybody had told her she wouldn't even be with him in the future back then, she would've called them a lying ass bitch. It was moments like this though that made her wish she would've just kept her baby way back when.

Fresh out of high school, a 18 year-old Denver found herself naked, laying in between her boyfriend's sheets while he dug in her guts repeatedly. They were both new to the world of sex, but they were enjoying every minute of each other's bodies. For two years they explored one another, gave each other some of the highest highs they never thought they'd experience with another soul. They was very safe and they took pride in knowing that every preventative measure was being taken.

It wasn't until a year after that when they both had gotten careless. Denver was working and finishing up her final year of her associate's at CAU. Of course there were long nights of studying, sometimes partying, and fucking. She would take her pills consistently for a couple days, stop and start again. Her and Jace had also began to have unprotected sex, and he would be liar if he said he didn't jump at the opportunity to spill his seed into the love of his life. It had happen on more than one occasion and Denver thought they would be saved by a plan B each time. Except that one time when she was ovulating after missing her pill multiple times that month. Per usual, Jace dropped the petty cash on the emergency contraceptive and the couple continued with their lives as normal. It wasn't until 6 weeks after when Denver noticed the small changes her body was going through.

Remembering it like yesterday, Denver thought about that day...

"Well Ms. Thing, you're definitely pregnant" Dr. Roberts said as she walked back into the exam room. She had been Denver's GYN for some time now, and she was amazing. Denver loved having a black woman as her doctor, it made her feel comfortable.

"How far?" Seeing that her periods were irregular because of her birth control it would be hard to pinpoint the exact day she got pregnant.

Dr. Roberts gave her a transvaginal ultrasound since it would probably be too early for her to detect anything with an abdominal ultrasound. As she examined her uterus, the diameter of the gestational sac led her to believe that Denver was just shy of 7 weeks pregnant. Showing her the sac and how it wasn't really much of anything at that moment, Denver sat with tears in her eyes as she looked at the screen. Dr. Roberts clicked some buttons on the machine, and it didn't take long for the sound of the heartbeat to be heard through the monitor.

"That can't be possible, there isn't even a baby in there" she said in shock as she watched the screen

Finishing up, Dr. Roberts informed her that she had choices if it turned out she didn't want to go through with the pregnancy. In no way was she saying what she should or shouldn't do with her body, but she wanted to make sure that Denver was making an informed decision. As a medical professional, it was important for her to put her patients' well being first, no matter what.

Denver accepted the ultrasound pictures as well as the information that her doctor offered her. She waited until she was out of the room and wiped herself down with the wipes that sat near the exam table. After she was fully dressed, she exited the room and made her way to the front desk. Of course she planned to keep her baby, she just needed to make an appointment for the next appointment. Thankfully Dr. Roberts was trained in both GYN and OB, she was glad she wouldn't have to switch doctors.
