the sun cast a warm, golden hue over the park that afternoon, bathing everything in a soft, ethereal light. jisung's heart was a tempest of emotions as he sat on a weathered wooden bench beneath the ancient oak tree, leaves rustling in the gentle february breeze. his gaze was fixed on the path before him, waiting, hoping. his teeth nibbed at the chill scoop of choco chip ice cream on the checked cone that his fingers tightly gripped around.
jisung had known minho for quite a few months, their friendship built upon shared laughter, whispered secrets, and countless stolen glances. he was entranced by minho's charm, his wit, and the way his eyes sparkled like constellations in the night sky. but today was the day he would finally lay bare his feelings, come what may. whatever happened before was all in the past, and he was sure he was ready for something new and fresh.
he watched as minho approached, a canvas bag slung casually over his shoulder. minho's dark hair tumbled over his forehead, and the late afternoon sun made it seem as if strands of gold were woven into the inky locks. jisung's breath caught in his throat as minho's lips curled into a smile upon seeing him.
"jisung!" minho greeted, his voice a melody that sent shivers down the male's spine.
"you called me here so urgently. what's up?"
jisung took a deep breath, the words he had rehearsed a thousand times still feeling foreign on his tongue.
"minho," he began, his voice barely above a whisper,
"how was your day? um, want my ice cream?" he nervously said in panic of not knowing what to say and handing his already half eaten ice cream to the other.
the other softlt chuckled and took a massive bite of the ice cream without hesitation.
"are you insane? you bite ice cream?"
"and you don't?"
"i don't! of course not! my teeth are too precious to serve them a shit ton of frozen cream all at once, i cherish them," he said with a poker smile and a mini shrug.
"most definitely, you need to keep those teeth safe for them to make the world brighter everytime you smile, hm?"
"oh please, don't try to rizz me up, eat that ice cream before it melts on to your white shirt!" jisung cackled and lightly slapped minho's arm.
the atmosphere went quiet as a wave of breeze rustled through.
"thank you, though."
"why are you thanking me? i did nothing for you to thank me," minho mumbled as he devoured the ice cream.
"i don't know, for accepting me, because i have lost quite a few friends by coming out, i was scared i'll lose you too."
"absolutely not. why did you think like that? you're human too, you know? accepting you for who you are is just the bare minimum one can do."
jisung sighed loudly.
"anyways, i've been itching to tell you something,"
minho tilted his head, his gaze filled with curiosity and a hint of apprehension.
"what is it, jisung? you know you can tell me anything. go on, i'm all ears."
jisung's heart pounded in his chest like the beat of a drum, the moment of truth drawing nearer.
"fuck how do i say this?" jisung feeling inarticulate and fiddling with his fingers due to rising anxiety.
the air felt thick, too thick to be able to breathe properly.
"it's okay, take your time, i'm always here."
jisung took a deep breath before he spoke, the tension between them increasing.
"i like you."
he spoke very quickly, nervous about the response and time seemed to freeze as those words hung in the air, the world holding its breath. jisung watched minho's expression shift from surprise to contemplation. minho's fingers drummed lightly on the strap of his bag, and then, with a sigh, he spoke.
"jisung, you have no idea how long I've waited to hear you say that," minho confessed, his voice filled with emotion.
"because, you see, i like you too! for too fucking long!"
jisung's heart soared, and a smile tugged at the corners of his lips. it was as if the universe had aligned in that very moment, two souls baring their deepest desires to each other. the weight of uncertainty and fear melted away, leaving only the warmth of love.
words could never describe the feeling jisung felt when minho said that. it was indescribable.
he grabbed minho's warm hand and pulled himself closer to the male in happiness of what he just heard, he couldn't comprehend it but he sure knew he was the happiest man on earth that day, he smile was shining brighter than the sun could ever, the corner of his eyes crinkling slightly.
they moved closer, drawn together as if by an irresistible force.
"it feels unreal to know you like me back but okay! i can accept that, it stills feels unreal though because you really are a work of art i cannot describe your beauty in words, it's that unreal. and your jokes and humor too is amazing, you can make me laugh like a maniac all the time and that's insane because yes, i like you so much for so long you know? i really love your t shirts and your cats too!! you are so cute i want to just, shit sorry i'm rambling yet again!"
minho gently chortled at the adorable rant he just heard, his heart was bursting. he smiled subtly as made jisung face him and placed his forhead against the other's.
"cuteass."
their lips met in a tender, soft kiss, a promise of all the moments they had yet to share. the world around them faded into insignificance as they embraced, two hearts finding solace and completeness in each other's arms.
under the ancient oak tree, bathed in the soft, golden light of the setting sun, jisung and minho's love story had begun, a tale of courage, vulnerability, and the sweet promise of a love that would endure through all of life's seasons.
"fuck damn your lips feel like marshmallows oh my god!!"
