"Guys, they're coming this way." Marie said. "Well, look what the rat dragged in." Linda said with a scowl. "Hey there babygirl." Craig said with a smug smirk. "Don't call me that you stupid prick." Linda snapped angrily. "Don't call me stupid." Craig said that smug smirk completely wiped off his face. Wangari had a brief sense of déjà vu but shrugged it off. "You're stupid. And so was your reason for leaving." Linda said angrily. "You left, remember? You walked out on me." Craig stood and replied angrily and Wangari's attention was drawn to him.
Craig was honestly intimidating. He was at least a head taller than everyone she'd ever met. The guy worked in construction and hit the gym every week so he was huge. Or maybe Wangari was just small. He was four years older than Wangari who was almost nineteen. But he was also handsome in a ruggedly kept kinda way. His scruff was well kept and his locks were tidy in a ponytail. His height combined with his buff body made him look intimidating but Wangari thought otherwise.
His best feature though was his eyes. His warm, almond shaped, hazel eyes were framed by thick dark lashes that made the eye colour pop. His eyes lightened and darkened according to his emotions and when he was happy, his eyes lit up and seemed to sparkle. He also had thick shapely eyebrows that Marie always asked about how he achieved that but was frustrated when each time his answer was 'nothing'.
"Yes, because you didn't like me enough!!" Linda snapped startling Wangari out of her thoughs. The two had now started to attract a crowd and Wangari saw it wise to try and stop them before any real damage was done though she didn't know they knew each other. It was news to her that the two had even been involved in a relationship. "That's bullshit and you know it. I asked you to be my girlfriend that day and you just walked out!!!" Craig shouted showing real emotion for the first time in a long while.
"Guys, maybe you should sort this privately-" "Shut your trap! This is all your fault!!!" Linda said turning on Wangari who was confused and her face showed it. "Don't you dare lie! I saw you two in the mall that Saturday afternoon, remember? And when I asked, you said you were with a friend." Linda said accusingly. "Because I was with a friend. We were shopping for a surprise for his girl." Wangari replied calming and Linda scoffed. "Of course you're gonna deny- of course she's gonna deny!!" She screamed.
"Okay Linda. Calm down so we can talk." Marie said trying to diffuse the tension. "Shut it, you piece of trash!" Linda snapped and glowered at Marie. "Don't talk to her like that!" "Stop it Linda." Craig and Wangari said simultaneously with Craig taking a threatening step towards her. "FYI, I never even liked you Wangari. I was just playing you." Brian said with a smug smirk on his face taking that as the perfect opportunity to step into the argument.
"What did you just say?" Craig asked taking a menacing step towards him with his fists balled up. "Yeah, I was just playing her-" "Shut up you stupid-" Linda started but was cut off by Brian. "Is that the only insult you know? You told me that you hate her too for taking your guy but you're a psycho. Oh and I'm done."
"What?!!!" Linda shrieked. "I got what I wanted from you and I'm done. Now, tell them what you did or I will. Or were planning to do." Brian said. "Why are you doing this? What do you gain from this?" Linda asked looking a little shaken. "Nothing at all. But you've got to admit, it's fun, isn't it?" He said with a smirk. Wangari felt a chill run down her spine. The dots had started to connect in her mind and she wished that what she suspected wasn't true. "What is he talking about Linda?" Wangari demanded. Linda looked around and seemed to gain some of her courage back. She scoffed and looked at Wangari, her gaze full of loathing. "I hate you with a burning passion." She said passionately and then let out a humourless laugh.
"You get everything you want and you have this habit of walking around pretending to be better than the rest of us-" What is it with people think that I think I'm better than them? Honestly. Wangari wondered feeling exasperated. "Shut up." Marie demanded. "No. Let her speak. Let her say it to my face." Wangari said calmly. "See?! That's what I'm talking about!!!" Linda shrieked looking around.
"No reaction to anything. It's like you're this perfect pretty princess who is all virtue and no vice! I wanted to crush that little heart of yours to dust. I wanted you to feel the pain of losing your guy so I thought of a perfect plan. I approached the guy who you were talking to at the time, who happened to be Brian and told him about the plan. He agreed of course but then you just had to ruin it!!" Linda explained. "You were the ones in there weren't you?" Wangari asked and everyone looked at her confused. All but Linda. "You don't know anything." She said.
"Oh, I know plenty. Anyway, is that all you had to say to me?" Wangari asked keeping her calm. Linda was shocked and silent for a second and Wangari nodded taking that as the answer and started to walk out. "You don't get to walk out just like that you bitch! You're a golddigger! A whore!! Together with that best friend of yours!!" Linda said and smirked triumphantly when Wangari stopped and tensed. Craig started to walk towards her but Marie held him back. "Wait." She said.
Wangari slowly turned around and looked at Linda maintaining eye contact. "Say that again. I dare you." She said calmly. Those who knew her, however, knew that a storm was brewing because she was a little bit too calm. "You're a whore and so is-"
And all hell broke lose.
