It took a split second for Wangari to reach Linda and slap her. Linda shrieked in pain holding her cheek then started to attack Wangari aimlessly. Wangari slapped her again and Linda lost her balance and fell on her ass. Linda was shocked to silence as she had never predicted such an outcome. Wangari never really showed strong reaction to anything and preferred to be passive and Linda had been counting on that to intimidate her which failed spectacularly.

"I'm only going to say this once and so you better listen. Stay away from me and my friends. If you see me in your immediate vicinity, change your vicinity. If I hear you utter anything remotely negative about my friends or anybody I care about, a sore cheek will be the least of your worries." Wangari said that and walked away followed by Craig and Marie.

"That was seriously hot Wangari, didn't know you had it in you." Craig joked. "Seriously though, that was honestly intense. Didn't know you could do that. It was like you flipped a switch." Craig said walking beside Wangari who just shrugged looking calm as if nothing had even happened back there. "Marie I think you were right. A punch or in this case slap gets the message across a little faster and more efficiently than words." Wangari said looking at Marie making her pause then walked away. They both chuckled and continued on their way.

"Did you actually lose your cool just because of today?" Marie asked. "No. She's had it coming for a while now. There are times that she's made a comment about me that I let slide but today was just that last push over the edge." Wangari replied. "So you actually noticed how rude she was? And condenscending? And-" "Okay, I get it Marie. And yes, sometimes she rubs me the wrong way." Wangari chuckled. "Then what I don't get is why you defended her everytime I brought it up?" Marie said looking confused. "Friends don't talk about each other behind their backs." Wangari replied. "You make it sound so simple. Like it's obvious." Marie said. "Coz it is." Wangari smiled.

"You're a good friend. But hey, remind me never to cross you though I'm sure you can't beat me." Craig said then his smug smirk appeared. "Is that a challenge Craig?" Wangari asked and Craig smiled a genuine smile. "It can be whatever you want it to be Cecilia." Craig winked playfully.

"Wangari, you're back so soon?" Christa asked as soon as Wangari walked in. "Yes mum. And I brought Marie with me." Wangari said. "Marie, how are you?" "I'm fine, aunty." Marie replied. "Mum, we'll be in the living room." Wangari said and dragged Marie out of the kitchen without waiting for her mother's reply but she heard her mother chuckle. "Choose a movie this time." They sat and Marie decided to put an infuriating movie on. Wangari had no idea what it was about neither had she bothered to check the title but when the lead started to act a little stupid, she put her phone on the coffee table.

"Really? You just had to put this one on?" Wangari asked incredulously looking at Marie. "Shhh. Let me watch." Wangari was  shooting exasperated looks at Marie every five minutes throughout the movie duration while Marie conviniently missed them every single time though she chuckled every now and then. They hung out for the rest of the evening until Marie had to go home which was a five minute drive from Wangari's home.

That evening as they sat at the dining table for dinner, Christa noticed that her daughter was too quiet. "Sweetie, what is it? Is there something bothering you?" She asked. "Eeh? No, I'm fine. Everything's fine." Wangari replied absently. "Sure?" She asked again. "Yes mum." Wangari nodded. Meanwhile, Wangari was replying the events of that afternoon. She realized that she had overreacted but it also could have done much worse than two slaps. Sure Linda deserved to be knocked down a notch or two but Wangari would have preferred not to be the one to do it.

However, although she felt that, she also felt conflicted because some of her thoughts were pretty violent. 'She better stay away from me. If she ever comes near me again, I'mma beat the shit outta her. I'mma bitch slap the fuck outta her till she sees stars.' "Wangari." She was startled out of her thoughts by her mother's voice. "Yes?" She looked at her mother seeing her looking concerned. "You just zoned out. Are you sure you're okay?" Christa asked. "Yes mum. I'm totally fine, don't worry. By the way, when's dad coming home?" Wangari asked noticing for the first time that her father hadn't arrived.

"I'm here." She heard his voice behind her. "Dad! How was work today?" She asked as she beamed at him. "It was okay. I'm just tired, long day." He said as he rounded the table towards her mother. "Hey." He greeted as he sat down beside her. He pulled off his tie and unbuttoned his cuffs and the first two buttons on his shirt. "Hey. Let me bring you some food, alright?" Christa said as she got up. "Sure. Let me come with." Her father said and followed his wife to the kitchen.

Wangari was done with her food and decided to take the dishes she used to the kitchen. "-your day love?" She heard her father's voice. "It was good. I went to see that apartment our daughter is gonna live in when she goes to school. How about you? How was your day?" Wangari went to walk into the kitchen but stopped when she saw her father's arms around his wife's waist hugging her from behind and his chin rested on her shoulder as she served him some food. "It was good. But today has been a long day..." Wangari slowly backed away from the doorway and placed the dishes back on the dining table. "Mum! I'm going to bed! Goodnight!" She shouted as she walked away. "Okay, goodnight sweetie." "Goodnight." She heard both of them reply.

Have you ever felt as conflicted as Wangari did in this chapter? And we caught a glimpse of Wangari's parents' relationship. Aren't they just cute?

Tell me your thoughts on this chapter in the comments.

Also, violence is not the answer guys. Don't be violent and don't solve conflict using violence.

Also, don't forget to leave a comment and hit the little star on your screen and share.
Till next Friday, love y'all 💞
