NINETEEN

M: I'm sorry I couldn't make it yesterday, I had this thing I couldn't get out of.

Wangari woke up to that text and groaned. She could care less about what was going on.

W: ok.

M:Do you live alone? I'd like to see you.😁

Does he think I'm stupid or something? This guy is so audacious, it's not even funny. Wangari thought as she tossed her phone on the bed and went to get ready.

M: hey, so because we can't meet, there's a matter we were supposed to discuss.

W: wat matter?

M: about us.

Fuck off. there's no us.

W: wat r u talking about?

M: you were supposed to give me an answer

To what question!?

W: wat was the quiz?

M: it was about our relationship.

There's no relationship.

W: oh that.

M: yes. so what's the answer?

W: no.

"Sup." Wangari said to Kinney as she walk in and walk straight to her room for a nap. I need a nap ASAP or I'm going to lose it. She thought as she threw her bag on the floor by the bed at threw herself into the bed.

Wangari was taking a cup of tea in the kitchen after her nap when her phone pinged.

Please don't be who I think it is. Wangari thought as she picked her phone and hopped on the counter. She put her cup down and checked her messages.

M: Hey so can we meet tomorrow? 😁😁

Of course it is. She thought feeling irritation beginning to form.

M: I'll be at school at around ten.

W: okay,

Wangari couldn't for the life of her understand why she agreed to meet the guy.

That day

W: Hey, r u here yet?

M: not yet but I'm almost.

W: ok.

1 HR LATER.

W: not here yet?

M: I'm here but I'm in the office sorting some stuff out.

W: how long?

M: I'm not sure, like 30mins max?

W: ok.

1 HR LATER.

W: still in the office?

M: yeah, sorry to keep you waiting.

W: I can't wait any longer,
I got here at 8 for my class.
I'm leaving.

M: ok I'm at the cafe near the library.
meet me there.

W: Ok

This prick. I actually wanna see him. Put a face to the prick. That doesn't even make sense. Oh shut it. Gosh now I'm going crazy arguing with myself and this guy probably thinks I'm into him because I've been waiting to meet him for almost two hours. Goodness me! What was I thinking?! Wangari was feeling all kinds of mad when she walked up to the guy after she spotted him outside the cafe.

"Hey." Wangari said urging her voice to be cool and steady which were two things she wasn't feeling at that moment. "Hey." He tried to hug her but she stepped back a little and didn't even offer him a handshake. "Do you want anything?" He asked. Fuck no. She thought but said. "No I'm gd. I just had lunch." 

"Come on, let me at least buy you a soda." He tried again. "No thanks, I don't like soda." Wangari said nonchalantly. "Come on, what about an ice pop?" He pressed. "No, I'm-" "Come on." "Okay." Wangari finally agreed just so she could get away from him faster. "Yeah, get one." He said.

"Sup bro." A guy came and joined them. "Hi." He greeted Wangari who said hi back. "So, class just bounced so I'll see you later, yeah?" He asked. "Yeah. I'm hanging out with Lia." Mike was quick to answer. "Actually, no, I've got to go too." Wangari was quick to say and started getting ready to leave. "You can stay a little, yeah?" He tried to persuade or more like demand. "No. Have a nice day." prick. She said but couldn't resist adding that last part mentally.

"Okay, you too. Next time?" Wangari kept walking and pretended not to hear that last part. Keeping me waiting till quarter noon and he expects me to stay even for a second with him? And hang out? Laughable.

Wangari texted Marie immediately after that and they planned a sleepover to finish their business plan. They got snacks and all the good movies and set up place on Marie's bed.

"Girls, remember to sleep because tomorrow is a school night okay?" Monica, Marie's mother told them when she came to wish then goodnight. "Okay mum." "Good night." The girls chorused and she left them to their sleepover.

"Hey girl, so what's up?" Marie asked. "Nothing much. Just this prick I saw today and I'm not happy about it." Wangari commented offhandedly. "What do you mean prick you met? I thought those stay away from you naturally? Well, people in general seem to steer clear of your normally- Hey! It's true." Marie exclaimed when Wangari hit her with a pillow on the face playfully.

"He texted me and I was curious to see what he looks like." Wangari said with a small shrug. "You could have just stalked his social media like a normal person." Marie said.  "Normal person? You saying I'm not normal? But I wanted to see him in person because I had my doubts that he's that guy I told you about." Wangari said.

"The one you've been making eyes at?" Marie teased. "One, nobody says making eyes anymore and you definitely should. Two, yes. I had interacted with both of them on a night out at some party last year. I thought he looked vaguely familiar, I was a little drank that night." Wangari said.

"A little? Girl, I had to carry you out of that party. And you thought pigs could fly because they are unicorns' long lost cousins for some reason." Marie said and burst out laughing. "Huh, that's weird." Wangari commented with a chuckle.

"You think so? Try being at the receiving end of that conversation." Marie said and they both laughed at that.
