It felt like hours passed as Touya just laid there crying. Eventually the knocks at his door died down. He faintly remembered gesring Hawks' voice softly through the door, but what he had said he wasn't sure. Even now his body felt unbearably heavy and pained. His eyes burned from the tears that had spilled.
His head was throbbing from how much he had been pulling on his hair. His chest heaved as he laid there. He didn't know what to do at this point. He couldn't go back out there because he'd be questioned for running off, but suddenly the idea of being locked up in that room any longer felt suffocating.
He quickly made the decision to simply leave out through his window. He sat up, his head feeling light like it was full of helium. He slowly stood on his feet, slightly stumbling before fully catching his feet under him. Swiftly he went to his window, barely struggling as he pushed it open. Since he was on the first floor this escape wouldn't be a problem. Nor would it truly have been the first time he made his exit this way.
He always got in trouble for leaving the house like this but he didnt care. The idea of seeing his mother, father or any of his siblings felt nauseating at that moment. He didn't even think he could face Hawks at that second much less anyone else.
He swiftly slid out the window. His feet firmly placed themselves on the ground as he began to walk around. He didn't know where. No where particularly really. Just walking. The air felt good in his lungs as he deeply breathed. Everything started to slowly feel calmer as he walked. It all felt like it would be ok as long as he breathed.
He didn't know how long he had walked. He noticed the sun going down and his phone blowing up with calls and messages, but he couldn't will himself to check it. They were worried and he knew that, but he just couldn't bare to hear it right then. Realistically he had no clue what had set him off that bad.
Was it the fact that Shoto got his quirk? No that couldn't be it. Could it be the suddenness of the excitment? That didn't make sense either. It only took a few moments for him to sigh. It was obvious what caused his sudden break. It was Endeavor. It was always Endeavor's fault.
It was the fact that he instantly knew that his chances of proving himself were over. The fact that he instantly k ew his father would never see him as good enough. He would never be enough. He just knew he would never be enough for the fiery man.
Fresh tears burned into his eyes at the simple thought of it. The sun began to set before Touya realised how late it had gotten. A small pit of panic bubbled up in his stomach as he rushed home and slipped back in through the window. He thought, for a moment, that he may have gotten away with his little escape.
That was until he faintly heard a small cough from the other side of the room. He sighed looking over to see Hawks causally sitting on his bed, glaring at him. Touya didn't quite know what to say for a moment.
"You know you're not slick? I saw the window open and everything." The feathered boy stated flatly, raising an eyebrow. Touya's eyes widened as he turned to ask something, but Hawks stopped him. "I didn't say anything to mom or dad."
Touya sighed in relief, feeling a hint of guilt building in his chest. He couldn't really tell if Hawks was mad or not. Hawks sighed deeply, pushing himself off of his bed. The two boys could've had separate rooms, but didn't want to yet. Though Touya fully expected the feathered boy to want his own room soon enough.
"Why'd you just run off? I could've came with you, Phoenix. We don't do things alone!" The yellow eyed boy quickly stated, seeming more confused then angry now. It was clear by the look on his face that he wanted to know why Touya reacted the way he did, but he wouldn't force the fire user to answer that yet.
"Just.. wanted some fresh air... sorry.." Touya responded awkwardly, glancing away. Hawks knew there was more to it. He knew there was something else to the situation, but for now he wouldn't push it.
"Fine, well I put a plate of dinner on your bed. Mom gave you permission to eat in here tonight." Hawks responded slowly, sitting back on his bed, pulling out his phone and scrolling through some apps of his. Touya sat down and started eating slowly. He wasn't really hungry at that moment, but if he didn't eat he knew Hawks would pressure him into talking about earlier.
It took over ten minutes for the boy to finish his plate, which he set on his nightstand.
"Thanks, Hawks.." Touya quickly spoke. He pulled his bag onto his bed, pulling out both his and Hawks' homework and started working on it. It only took about thirty minutes to finish both of them. Somehow the time passed even after that. Soon enough he realised that it had gotten way later then he thought.
The clock on his nightstand read 9:30 pm. Touya sighed, not even bothering to change his clothes as he cuddled under his sheets. He hadn't realised how exhausted he was from all the crying he had done prior. Hawks gave him a weird look, but simply rolled over after changing into his pajamas into his own bed. The feathered boy couldn't help but be worried for his brother. A few moments passed before either of them spoke.
"Goodnight, Phoenix." Hawks softly spoke out, as the darkness of their room surrounded him.
"Night, Birdy.." Touya responded, already sounding dozed off. It didn't take long before sleep overcame both of them.
