Clarissa's POV

"Come in."

Commander, his secretary, Amin, and I, we all entered the Alpha's office of the Crescent Nightwalkers, the pack where the meeting was being held.

"Good afternoon, Your Majesty," we gave our greetings to the Alpha King, who was positioned on a central single couch, donned in a custom-made three-piece suit bedecked with a chain on the waistcoat and the werewolves' crest on the collar, radiating every bit of his majestic presence.

We then proceeded to bow to the "Royal Betas," who were seated on the full-length couch next to him.

As we only bow to members of the royal family and esteemed members within the King's pack, we verbally greeted Alpha Carmine, his Luna, Alpha Charles of this pack, and his Luna.

After exchanging greetings, the King asked us all to take a seat on the couch opposite him, while our secretaries positioned themselves behind us.

The Commander and I reported our findings regarding the case to the King, and Alpha Carmine corroborated the information related to him. Everyone quietly waited for the King to lead the discussion further.

He silently surveyed us before recounting our investigation. "Every possible lead has turned cold. The one who posed as Andrew Dsouza is a werewolf, but we lack any visual identification; we only have a common tattoo as a clue. Similarly, we have no visuals or information about the human hunter's associate, and the only lead was his contact number, which the communications company claims to never exist."

"Yes, that's the current status of our investigation," I confirmed.

He leaned back in his chair, his gaze filled with displeasure as he scrutinized me.

"Today morning, I received a potential lead regarding the source of the poison," I began.

"Yes, it's challenging to procure such a large quantity of poison, so we are trying to locate the seller," the Commander added, shifting nervously under the King's disappointed stare.

"And?" the King asked, his eyes narrowing.

"My apologies, Your Majesty, for my incompetence, but we need time to investigate the lead," I robotically answered him as always.

His jaw twitched, indicating his annoyance with the matter. He was displeased. Ever since he came into power this is the first time that he has encountered such a case, so it must be weighing heavily on him.

As I observed him clench and unclench his hands in despair, a sense of internal joy washed over me. How long I have waited to see him suffer, but this minuscule anguish of his is far from enough to satisfy me. I want to witness him on his knees, begging hopelessly to anyone to spare him and his kingdom. I want him to experience the same desperation that I feel every second.

"...You have all done a remarkable job. Let's discuss and determine the next course of action together."

There he goes again with his fake sweet words.

The Commander and I promptly rose from our seats and bowed deeply. "It is our honour to serve you, Your Majesty."

He smiled lightly and gestured for us to take our seats again to discuss this newfound link. After I explained everything, he instructed the Royal Beta to transmit the data to the Royal Gamma back in the pack and initiate an investigation from their end.
