My first love

Part 14: the library date

Weeks had gone by. They had settled into their classes and the twins were slightly glum as quidditch was cancelled for the year due to the tournament. They did use there extra time wisely though. Miley and the twins spent weekends and evenings planning pranks and inventions for the joke shop. Miley quite enjoyed the time they had spent for the last month. No danger. No drama. Just everyone having a normal experience at Hogwarts. Harry needed it the most. He really enjoyed time with his friends.  Miley felt better knowing she didn't have to worry as much about him this year.

She headed to the owlery one Saturday afternoon alone. She sometimes went there to see snowy with all the other owls and give them treats. It was nice to have alone time to think. Miley was getting ready to leave when she  bumped into someone. "Sorry" she muttered without really seeing who it was. "Miley, I haven't seen you around much even though I have tried to find you a few times!" She heard a familiar voice say. Miley looked up to see Cedric standing at the owlery door. "Oh Cedric, I didn't realise it was you. Well you've found me now is there anything I can help you with?" She asked with a hearty smile. " well erm no, erm I just. I was just wondering. If maybe you wanted to spend a day together studying in the library tomorrow?" Cedric asked rather awkwardly. Miley didn't really think much into the request as she did enjoy the library and she was trying to better grades for their exams next year. " of course, I would love that Cedric" she said before giving the boy a hug and leaving down the long spiral stairs.

She headed to lunch alone then found the twins sat with the trio in the courtyard discussing the arrivals next week. " I wonder what they will be like" Hermione said. " it's just nice to have something nice happen at Hogwarts instead of the constant bad" Harry chimed in leaning back onto his hands. They hadn't noticed her approaching yet. " well I just hope the beauxbaton girls are as pretty as they say they are" Ron said dreamily. " dream on Ron" George said " yeah, you've got more chance of Hermione dating you than the beauxbaton girls they want older more sophisticated guys" Fred replied straight after their brother. Miley rested my arms on the twins heads making them jump. "and who would these sophisticated lads be" Miley said gaining laughs from the younger three. " well isn't it obvious" Fred said as he and his twin began to point to each other. Miley laughed and sat down next to Fred. " ah well don't ask me for any relationship advice when the beautiful girls break your hearts" she said while shooting Hermione a look of 'what is wrong with Fred'. She shot me a look back as-if to say 'I just don't get it'. Fred wrapped his arm around her neck and pulled her closer to his chest " don't worry love, I for sure won't be running after any French witches anytime soon" he said shooting her a wink. She rolled her eyes.

" miley, we think tomorrow we should prank filch" George said rather amused by the idea. " oh, actually I won't be able to make that boys" she said looking down knowing that Fred wasn't going to be happy once he knew where she would be. " oh yeah, and where are you running off too?" Fred asked teasingly. " the library to do extra studying because unlike you two Buffoons I value my education" she replied smiling at the two boys.  " well miss black, don't moan when your sat all alone in the library wishing you was with us" Fred replied. Before she could say anything Hermione chimed up " oh I'm not to sure she will be all that lonely" how did she know. Fred's ears shot up and his interests was sparked. " oh yeah and who would be joining you Miley?" Harry asked knowing from the tension that it was going to annoy Fred whatever the answer was. Again Miley wasn't given the chance to answer. "Cedric it is ain't it. He told Callie who told me" Hermione said and everyone turned to look at Miley. " got yourself a boyfriend now Miley?" Ron asked earning him a kick of Fred.  "what do you want to hand round HIM for" Fred said snappily. " what is your problem with cedric?" Miley asked getting rather annoyed. " I just don't think he's as good a guy as is made out" Fred said back huffily " I don't think he's the sort of guy you should be hanging about with" Miley was furious by Fred's comments and the rest of the group could sense the tension building as they all began to sit awkward. " oh yeah, and it's your job to tell me who I can and can't be seen with is it?" She said a little louder than her normal volume. " well no, but when your hanging around lads like that people are bound to start thinking things miley" Fred replied while laying back on his arms. " oh yeah and what are people going to start thinking then Fredrick?" She asked furious at this point. "Well that you get about.. a bit" he added the last bit on knowing it was the wrong move. Before Miley had time to think she slapped Fred across the face and got up to storm off. "Unbelievable Fred" she heard Hermione say as she ran after her. Miley could hear Fred and Harry arguing but she didn't turn back just ran straight to their common room.

She threw herself onto the windowsill and turned on her record player. She threw her head into her hands and let out a frustrated scream. What is wrong with Fred. He's been acting so weird recently. He was constantly blowing hot and cold. One minute he was all over her and the next he was acting insensitive and off with her. Hermione sat on her bed and comforted her for a while. Miley ranted about it and Hermione agreed with all her points. " screw him I'm going to hang out with Cedric more just to Piss him off. He doesn't get to control who I associate with. Ever." Miley said so frustrated with Fred's behaviour.

The next day she went to breakfast with Hermione and sat with her, Harry and Ron. Fred and George were in their usual spots but Miley just walked past them not even looking in their direction. She caught George's eye once at breakfast who muttered a sorry. Why was he apologising? He didn't do anything wrong. It's his stupid brother who's in the wrong. Miley then went over to the Hufflepuff table when she was done to get Cedric. " ready" she asked before offering him her hand to which his friends all began to shout ooooooos. She knew this would annoy Fred the most. Cedric smiled and took it and they walked out the great hall. They got to the library and did a few hours of studying until they decided to take a break and get lunch. Miley sat at the Hufflepuff table with him and they spoke about the tournament. " are you going to enter?" Miley asked as she tucked into her food. " well I'm in two minds, everyone thinks I should but it is rather dangerous" Cedric said. " well if you do I think you would do brilliantly" Miley said with a smile. "well if a smart women like yourself thinks so" Cedric said making her giggle and slightly blush. She saw his eyes dart to the griffindor table and quickly back. She turned to see what he was looking at. There she saw the twins sat eating. George was trying to talk to fred but fred wasn't listening he was staring directly at her. He was trying to get her attention but she just turned back around. " can we leave?" She asked Cedric and he agreed. They got up and went for a walk around the grounds. " can I ask is there something going on between you and Weasley?" Cedric asked twiddling his fingers nervously. " it's complicated" she said. They sat down and she explained to Cedric the Fred and her situation. She did leave out a few of the kisses but she did explain his hot and cold behaviour and what he had said a day earlier. "Well that is just no way to treat a beautiful women" Cedric said with a smile. He was such a kind hearted boy Miley didn't see why Fred hated him so much.

They spent all day together until Cedric finally walked her back to her common room. She gave him a Hug and a kiss on the cheek goodbye, told the portrait the password and headed straight up to her dorm ignoring her friends at the fireplace. She listened to some music and fell asleep.
